similar but only 5 days with Covid. had vaccine & booster. should be less severe as i understand it.
long term covid: refers to long-term symptoms even when Covid has passed. This is a very weird virus.
I had serious sweating when I had the original Wuhan variant in 2/20. I’m still dealing with breathing issues and occasional sweats when my symptoms kick up but the serious sweating lasted almost 2 years 24/7. Now this was before any vaccines or covid treatments so I don’t know about the newer variants but sweating is a side effect of many viruses and covid is one of them.
Covid Dec 2020 and Sept 2021 and while many things are improving finally, I still get night sweats and occasional sweating during the day. Pre Covid that never happened. In fact lack of perspiration was a problem sometimes before Covid.
Try to reduce inflammation in your body with diet exercise , drinking water, sunlight to increase those vit D levels and look to see if there are triggers , something consistent you do eat or drink or even times of day ahead of these sweating episodes.
Make sure you follow with you primary care and that they are aware of these issues so they can run appropriate labs or other testing and rule out other causes too.
You are not alone! I had it during the big freeze as well. The sweating is crazy, my arms will start to tingle then all of a sudden I'll just start sweating. Anywhere, comfortable setting, not hot, sitting doing nothing and no stressful situations.
I also smell like something is burning.
That is not so constant.
I asked my doc for a referral for an endocrinologist. I was refused. Gotta stop the madness since I never sweat before. Thanks for sharing take care.
never had Covid, but contracted a similar debilitating viral SARS a year before Covid came to US. Had night sweats for three years after infection.
Since I have started my supplements, read my other posts, the burning smell comes and goes, but is mostly gone. The sweating is embarrassing, but again, it is much better. Actually, anti depressants help with the sweating. If you research this post, there is an excellent article from The NY Times, and also many from other sources online. It seems your doctor is a non-believer in post covid. How can he deny you? If you have insurance, I would call them and see what they say, or find another doctor.
I’ve had Covid twice and those drenching sweats just don’t seem to stop for about a year. I’m now in my second Covid cycle and the sweats are unchanged.
Hospitalized for Covid with pneumonia in Dec 2022. Nine months later I still have issues with smell and taste - either bad or none for both. Also have heat intolerance with profuse sweating. PreCovid I seldom sweat - even when exercising. Thankfully, so far, sweating issue is mostly daytime. I’m 74 and a Type 2 diabetic.
I am taking 60 Mg of Duloxetine twice a day for the sweating. As long as I stay on schedule I can almost always stay dry--except if I'm really exerting myself, and even a short walk is sometimes an exertion. The profuse sweating when I'm with other people has been so embarrassing. Once, for three hours while playing cards, I just dripped and my face was red. Ugh!
