Post Covid sweating: Is this common for others too?

I am experiencing profuse sweating off during the day and nightly. Is this common post Covid?

I am taking 60 Mg of Duloxetine twice a day for the sweating. As long as I stay on schedule I can almost always stay dry--except if I'm really exerting myself, and even a short walk is sometimes an exertion. The profuse sweating when I'm with other people has been so embarrassing. Once, for three hours while playing cards, I just dripped and my face was red. Ugh!

How awful for you! I’m sorry. I’m 65 years old and have chronic illness so my activity is limited but I drench thru clothes daily. Glad you found something that helps.

Ever since I had COVID-19 in late July 2022 I am sweating profusely! It’s literally to the point where all the hair on my head gets soaking wet and I’m dripping from my forehead, and just from doing very light intensity tasks like vacuuming, or even drying off after a shower. I’ve always been a sweaty guy, and am overweight. I could also be in better shape, but this never happened before I had COVID-19.
I have seen advice and posts related to this occurring with a fever, but I do not have any fever.
The nurses at my doctor’s office didn’t think this is COVID-19 related, and didn’t seem too concerned about it. My doc just shrugged and said “might be”.
I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this intense sweating after COVID-19, or if it’s just coincidence I’m experiencing related to something else? Thanks for taking the time to read!

Hi @mjurkiewicz78. Yes, there are others who are experiencing intense sweating after COVID. In fact, I moved your message to this existing discussion where @dr4bama asks pretty much the same question:
- Post Covid sweating: Is this common for others too? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/post-covid-sweating/

You can see from the previous post that you're not alone and connect with other members like @lcrewdson @frking @smernigegm @cse2022 @kmbailey72 @beachnut, who can offer their tips and ideas.

What do you do to minimize the sweating?

I have day and nights sweats and chills. I also wake up shaking and the body that seems colder sends me puts me into an instant pile of sweat.. have extreme trouble sleeping, as I’m either hot or cold.

Hello, I have had intense sweating since February. I had Covid in Oct/Nov., And my profuse sweating situation sounds just like yours. I am on Welbutrin 300 mg and 60 Mg of Duloxotine daily, and it helps with those terribly intense time. However I find that the back of my head and hair are almost constantly wet, even when I am just sitting watching tv. Going outside (I live in Florida) is impossible during the day, but the sweating is under control indoors. Our doctors don't seem to want to acknowledge that there are symptoms left over from our infection. Initially my perfect blood pressure went thru the roof and my cholestrol levels shot up too. I have had extensive testing of the lungs and heart since February, and everything is fine. My pressure and cholesterol have returned to normal. There are many articles out there that you will identify with. The sweating is a leftover from Covid 19.

I am red hot most of time and sweat profusely. It is embarrassing and painful. I can barely shower and when I do I collapse from exhaustion. I take a towel everywhere. I don't get out actually I mean from room to room.

Try a cool gel pack (I keep mine in the freezer) on the back of your neck; I seem to warm up when I want to sleep. ;o)

thanks, if only I could wear one out.

Ah, yes! I've also wondered about the new materials in clothing that maintain your temperature whether it is hot or cold. I've gone all cotton over the years and it is possibly warmer than the other materials. Drinking colder water might help too.

I've had profuse sweating on and off since becoming ill in 2020 but no fever. Usually starts as soon as I wake accompanied with severe fatigue.
