@dp33

@ralphysmom - Did your neuropathy appear after COVID? Peripheral neuropathy appeared for me after COVID (Feb 2020) before the first National emergency declaration then got worse after COVID in Jan2022.

So I am just learning about PN and how to manage. So far have given up alcohol, caffeine, increased exercise (walk or exercycle, gym) and take nerve friendly supplements. Biggest impact for me was giving up caffeine.

Hi dp33, It doesnt look like I wrote much on that for some reason. I havent been well. It did happen 3 weeks after Covid but my case is complex b/c I had some neuropathy to upper body before Covid. We are now looking at cervical spine issues or MS. Not sure if Covid played a part. Its been a long journey. Would be hard for me as well to give up caffeine in coffee form. Heres to your health and keep up the good work.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. Yes, I have heard of
L Theanine. It has other benefits also. Regarding seizures and
L Theanine. Naturally, when it comes to seizures there are no guarantees as you likely know. It depends on the type of seizures you are having. If they are focals especially the limbic/mesial temporal lobe then the seizure threshold may decrease. But if the focal focus is elsewhere I believe then seizure threshold is increased making seizures less likely. However, if you suffer from generalized seizures most likely your seizure threshold will increase and most likely help decrease them.
I have had thousands of seizures and if needed I would take it although I'd try to get it from a natural way if it provided enough. Things like green tea.
But don't overlook the possibility this potential side effect may not have any effect on your seizure.
Think about all the potential side effects in Keppra and Clonazepam. How many if any do you have.
Good luck,
Jake

I have had thousands. It took 2 years for me to finally get on Key, clonazepam and Cymbalta. I have complex partial seizures in my front lobes. I won’t take the L Theanine because it decreases the chance of a seizure. I appreciate you looking into it.

Hi Pamelaz.......did you know that the trade name for Nortriptilene is Pamelor? Just an occurrence that I noticed.

Unfortunately the total Hemp cream with only CBD.....has not been helpful for me either. That is why I use Papa and Barkley, 3:1 CBD/THC for chronic pain and 1:3 CBD/THC for acute pain. If, by chance, I forget it at night, my hands will keep me awake.

Good luck to you.......glad you have so many folks responding to your posts. It always helps to hear from those who have tried the same treatments and medications. We are all different as you can see.

Stay in touch, I would love to hear more of your discoveries.

Chris

Hello @pamelaz, Welcome to Connect. I have no experience with Nortriptyline but @melody12 @patriciao @artscaping @sharonbrenna and @rwinney have posted about it in other discussions and may have some experience to share with you.

Have you been diagnosed with neuropathy? Do you mind sharing a little more about your diagnosis and symptoms?

100 mgs 3 times a day. I have been having ugly reactions to the Gabapentin. I would take the L Theanine if I wasn’t scared of having seizures.

I have neuropathy from my 2 antibiotics I am taking for embedded urinary infection. I had 15 uti in a 6 month period, so non stop antibiotics keeps it at bay. I need to change antibiotics but most of them cause neuropathy. I`m lost.
