Too much cold air entering the nostrils

Well...Recently I have developed a weird symptom. I think I have had it for a month. My nose has no mucus, booger and when I inhale, I feel like there is too much air entering my nostrils so I have to use something to block part of it. Otherwise I feel so uncomfortable and suffocated. My right nostril is getting worse, there is no congestion or anything and sometimes my face or nose seems to lose sensation. When the turbinates work normally, they will shrink and swell up and provide warm air but this does not happen to my nose. All the air I breathe in is cold and is not warm at all. I am just wondering what causes it because for people who have atrophic sinusitis, they will have nose blockage. But I do not, I feel my nose is so empty and too much air entering them when inhaling even my nose is not dried. I hope somebody could help.

I have checked my nose, I do not see any turbinates, only hair and the holes of my nose. I have never done any turbinate reduction or nasal surgery.

Well I do not have any nasal pain but instead the nose or nostrils feel so empty. When I inhale there seems to be a force of airflow entering my nostrils, making me feel so uncomfortable band hard to breathe. My nose seems to lose function of how to stop the air, humidifies and moisturize the air I inhale.

I know this seems weird to ask but .. Did you had any spiritual involvement before it happens to you..? This is happening to me too..

I have this issue where my nose is so open and to the point it hurts my heart or ling when I breath heavy in thru my nose so much cold air maybe my chest is too open so what I did for temporary relief is plug my nose with some tissue no to the point I can’t breath but just enough to where in an still breath in n out my nose just not that much it stops too much air from comin in and just a nice amount plus bum Vaseline on my chest and nose. I’m a chronic weed smokier I actually stopped for 9 days last month but I started back sun recently so I could have smokers Lungs but I am only 24 and should not be having these health issues so I really hope I feel better soon. Possibly too much dry air in my home I need a humidifier I’m going to get one tmrw .

Oh so sorry! I have ears, nose, throat problems also. I believe its my hay fever gone array because of aging. It's very unpleasant, and quite annoying. Antihistamines are the only thing that work consistently. If I use the antihistamine to much, I get drowsy and lethargic.

Sure hope it isn't schizophrenia, I just spent a ton of money to become a nurse.

Muciprocin is an antibiotic ointment to rid your nose of bacteria that my infected your nasal passage. I had an ENT take a culture of my nose and she found some sort of bad bacteria in it and she prescribed Muciprocin. It did get rid of the bacteria but it did not help my nose issues which are somewhat like @learningstudent's.

I use over the counter generic Neosporin, in both my nose, gumline after oral surgery, and in my ears occasionally. It's extremely inexpensive and works well.

I wanted to post and give an update on my ongoing pulsatile tinnitis. I saw an ear specialist who said I had slight hearing loss and a bit of congestion in affected ear.

She said I could either have tubes placed in ear and see if that would take care of problem. Or, I could have an mri.

Has anyone ever had tubes in for pulsatile tinnitus? Was told it was my choice. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with this. Thanks.

According to the article snippet. "Inferior nasal turbinates are located inside your nose on either side of your nasal septum. They are bone covered with erectile soft tissue that helps create turbulence inside the nose to warm, purify and humidify the air that we breathe. The soft tissue covering expands and contracts which can give you the sensation of congestion and clear breathing, respectively."

@learningstudent I was wondering if you have found a solution to your problem, since I have the same problem as you.

In 2020 I got sick with my respiratory tract, supposedly it wasn't covid, it was a type of bronchitis, I had a different symptom because my paranasal sinuses were inflamed for a couple of months and since then I have had problems of that type.

I consulted the otolaryngologist, thanks to my clinical history and a tomography, he concluded that what I have is hypertrophy of the turbinates, allergic rhinitis and vasomotor rhinitis.

The weird thing is that I'm never sneezing or runny nose like someone with allergies would, but the strangest symptom that I have and that is why I am looking for an answer in this group is when I inhale, I feel like there is too much air entering my nostrils, I have never done any turbinate reduction or nasal surgery, just like you.

I hope you can read my message.

I have this same problem with cold air and no snot for about 5 months and it has gotten worse over time, have gone to several Doctors & they don't know what is wrong my doctor is now sending me to a Rheumatologist. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This thread is so long that I only got through half of it — so I’m not sure is anyone mentioned this, but it could be a fungal sinus infection. These don’t look like bacterial infections on CT or MRI scans, they can look like mild swelling. Symptoms (that I’ve experienced) can be:
Pressure in the sinuses
Shooting pains in the head/neck
Fever
Fatigue
Dry eyes and mucosa
Feelings of being sick (like when you have the flu or bronchitis)

It’s taken 2 years and multiple docs to figure this out, and I’m just starting my treatments (and full diagnosis), but I believe we’re on the right track.
