Anyone have extreme itchy back?

Posted by calinski420 @calinski420, May 31, 2022

Just curious if anyone has extreme itching of your back . I have COPD, MAC and Bronchiectasis. This itch seems deep in the tissue. The sensation is a cross between itching/pain and numbness. Scratching does make it feel better. It feels like something is "there"

I have experienced the same along with scalp and wondered if there is a connection. Lately I am thinking of connection between itching and the 3 meds commonly prescribed for MAC.

Rifampin can cause itching. I am not sure how frequently it happens, as this drug is more commonly known for its ability to cause nausea and other gastrointestinal issues. If it continues, or becomes severe, it should be reported to your doctor.

I have back itching for about 5 years now. Not sure when I started having Bronchiectasis. Was not formerly diagnosed nor treated until about 3 years after I started having symptoms. It is strange that I have "dry skin" all over my body but it is only my back that itches

I also have an itch in the middle of my back thats difficult to scratch. Ive had Bronchiectasis/MAC for now two years. Only nebulize with 7% and budesonide .5% both twice a day. I cant say what causes the itch. Age? Im 77.
However what does help is to put a lotion on the itch. Seems to help a lot. Maybe it dry skin. My itch is on the surface. Sue is inspiring. Eat a good diet.
For me its fruits and vegetables, mostly organic and since Im loosing weight, nuts, fish and eggs. Proteins seem necessary. Im currently looking into a protein whey thats plant based. Wishing you well. Hal

Hi everyone. Google Notalgia Paresthetica. Very common but not well-known.

I have both bronchiectasis and MAC and also have an itch in the middle of my back. I’m on no meds. It began a few months ago, I thought it was a bug bite but alas, no. Just a crazy itch.

Yep for about 2 years now...same spot all the time. Nothing there. Been checked by the pulmonary and derm. Started after MAC, Aspergillus, Bronchi. diagnosis. I am not on anything but Arnuity, Brovana, Sodium chloride.
Never treated for MAC
I will say my dad randomly developed that later in life too and he had none of this.

I, too, have extreme itching of my middle back and scalp. It's worse after taking Rifampin. Also, my skin is "hot" to touch. I've reported it to my doctor. I'm thinking an allergic reaction to the medicine.
