Hi @callalloo, Yes. For 3 reasons,
1. The Ca & D did not appear to help much in the 2 years when I dropped
Fosamax.
2. I read articles talking some horrible info about Ca, like the supplement
could be made from some stone, and Ca can be linked to blood vessel
hardening, heart problem & kidney stone etc.
3. Without Ca and D over so many years, it appears not affecting my bone’s
performance that much.

Everyone’s body is unique. I do not suggest anyone to skip supplement. Only I prefer to rely on diet to provide the necessary nutrition. I don’t believe in “eat this, not that” either. Too confusing. I just eat everything without bias.

Interesting. All these years being told to take Calcium.... now my doctor said I have too much calcium in my system! Dang.

Thanks for this very helpful chart. Can you detail which kinds --and how much-- exercise you engaged in, please? I think it would be helpful to a lot of osteoporosis patients. Thanks!

That's Dr. Fishmanis video. I was doing it for a while, but Algaecal posted onevideo for each variation, which I find easier to follow. And Dr. Fishman has a video on their site talking about yoga practice. I doubt he'd do that if he has problems with twhat they've done.

Here's the link. I hope it works:

About a month now. The osteoporosis version was difficult at first, I did the osteopenia version for a while and now do the "Prevention" with slight modifications. I'm steadier and it no longer feels like an ordeal to get through. The reward is getting to the corpse pose at the end!

One weird point about FRAXL ratings. I entered exact data from recent DEXA scan and got those results. Then changed only my age, deducting 10 years and risk numbers fell by 50% while EVERY other variable remained the same. I'm suspecting the algorithm is assuming that age increased odds of falling? I did the same experiment, using correct data, but decided 10 pounds from my weight and all of the risk numbers increased! I'm guessing that result us based on some occult (non-obvious) assumption of inadequate diet or something? I'd be happy to lose those 10 pounds of remaining lockdown weight and doubt they're doing me any health good...

My point is that some of the standardized ratings that we're all measured against include assumptions that don't apply to us. And can be inappropriately discouraging.

Good points. Also...the standard for a woman who is 5'3" or shorter should not be the same as a woman who is 5'7". Normal bone density should be assessed based on more than a one size fits all standard. (there is a post on this site about that but I cannot seem to find it. If I do I'll come back and post the link.)

Hi @catluvr999, Looks like you never take meds. I have no data to tell that if never have meds to start with, would exercise works just as well. I’ll be happy to talk about the exercise I am taking. I’ll put it in a separate Discussion topic soon.

Hi @msou Did you post your exercise regimen yet? I have trouble following the threads....whether they continued. I don't think I got a notification of anything exercise related in the last handful of days....maybe you havent done it yet. Just thought I'd remind you that I'm eagerly awaiting it. Thanks again.

What's bizarre is that I just refound DEXA from 2009. So I have three results; 2009, 2016 and 2022. My gm/cm² actual number went up in 2022 but the T-score also went up. I mean, honestly, how can that even happen? A higher number = a gm/cm² = higher density = a lower T-score. Unless the whole T-score scale has been rethought in the past decade?

I have a weak lower back (4 herniated lumbar discs injured a zillion years ago) and forward stretching is important for retaining comfort and flexibility. But I'm wary about it now, having read the caution about possibly triggering compression fractures. I hope to get the Echolight and more comprehensive analysis as the DEXA seems maybe too simplistic.

In addition to other benefits, the poses must also be helping balance!

callalloo. I have a 2016, 2108 and 2022 DEXA. First one is mild osteoporosis...second (doing NOTHING different and TAKING NO DRUGS...Osteopenia! Third moderate osteoporosis.

I've taken nothing for it. Dexa scans are notoriously inaccurate and all over the map. EVEN IF you go to the same facility with the same technician.

I'm doing osteostrong and anxious to see how my next Dexa pans out.
