Transplant: Tacrolimus, What’s Your Target Range?
Hi Transplants!
I am a two year anniversary kidney transplant and my Tacronlimis target range is currently 6 to 8. (When I was newly transplanted my Tacronlimis range was 8 to 10.) I am curious if anyone's Tacronlimis range is lower than 6 to 8 and at what stage was it lowered? Please let me know your experience.
Many thanks! 😊

Hi there. I am liver transplant. I believe my surgery was 9 hrs had a complication on table and was out cold for a week..could not wake up..anyway I missed the time of experience of all that pain. But I was given 20 drugs during surgery...more drugs after I finally woke up and then 2 months later went home with 18 durgs..don't u believe all that had a negative effect on our psychie. I do!! I have same problems with short term. Surgery upset our whole system .electric.. hormones..blood .. platelets etc .etc .now we have to hope for the best..
@jackie421blfdgurl OMG, what an ordeal Jackie! You are absolutely correct that all of that has an effect on your psyche......the whole experience probably causes a verson of PTSD in addition to all of the extra drugs (20) and all of that recovery time in the hospital. That is not an easy experience for someone to go through. I hope you are extra kind to yourself!
It sounds like you are now feeling stronger and you are doing better....and less meds, thank goodness! Do you feel like things are going in the right direction now? I think you said your transplant hospital is in New York City, is that right?
Hi again. Yes Mt. Sinai
They were and r wonderful .
Last June I also had a incisional hernia repair.thry opened up the same incision.had two pieces of mensch out in..I felt better before the hernia surgery.now I need to wear like a girdlebelt around my tummy or I feel like my stomach is gonna pop out!! I pretty much had it with operating rooms. After hernia repair came down with dirreaha for 5 in half months..back in hosp. In November dehydration..
Then diagnose celiac disease..so no gluten☹️☹️.
But it is what it is...could be worse..and still need to say thanks to God and my angles and My.Sinai.

Good morning Jackie! 😊 I have a small incisional hernia too....mine is near my belly button. (Unfortunately, I think they are fairly common). For now, my hernia is "on watch". Was your hernia causing trouble or pain so they decided to repair? Was yours near your belly button too?
I am surprised to hear that you have celiac disease. Do you think you always had celiac disease or did it recently develop? Actually, I don't think gluten is good for any of us. So giving up gluten is probably better for our health. I should probably try to avoid it too. My sister in law makes and buys pancake mixes, muffins, bread, bagels, made out of oat flour or almond flour from Amazon. Is that what you are doing now?
I have heard wonderful things about Mt. Sinai so I am not surprised to hear that you are so pleased with their care. It also sounds like it's fairly convenient (when there is no traffic, which I guess is not too often in NY!).
Definitely remember to keep your "girdle" on for support until you are completely healed. I don't think your guts will fall out (Lol) ....but it sounds like it will give you a better feeling while healing!
Good morning 🌄 you too. What is your name and where do u live? I am in NJ. So yes a trip to the city was wonderful during covid..no traffic at all!! My hernia was at the liver site and was bulging and making me uncomfortable. After my surgeries and meds..no wonder I got celiac..but using the products is no big deal.they r all over the stores. Have a great 4th
@jackie421blfdgurl 😊 I am living in the sunshine state. Very humid and hot today....it's going to be another month of large air conditioning electric bills now that most days have a "feels like 101" temperature. (I know New York can have the same problem in summer).
Happy July 4th! I am headed to the supermarket now to buy some "not good for us" hot dogs and mustard, decorated cupcakes, etc! LOL
🌭🍔🥨🧁🍨🍦 The holiday is my excuse to be bad today..... Enjoy!!

May I ask you share some info on your hernia:
- Was this after the transplant ?
- Did the Surgeon use the mesh technique to fix it ?
Thanks
Hi @l0lag0lag0b3 😊
Good morning!! Yes, my small hernia is located near my belly button and occurred after the kidney transplant surgery. Currently, it doesn't seem to be growing and it's not painful so it's "on watch". I think you had a kidney transplant too.... Do you have an incisional hernia from your kidney transplant surgery or from something else? My understanding is that @jackie421blfdgurl had her incisional hernia repaired with mesh after her liver transplant surgery created a bulge. Do you have a bulge or any pain?
Hello: Hello1234
Another question that I should have presented is:
Was it done by urology surgeon or a general surgeon , was the transplant center in loop with the surgery.
In my case I had a mesh inserted in 2012 (before the KT), After the transplant & now with a (new lease on life) I engage in outdoor activities - so off late I seem to have pain in right front abdomen, not sure.. (no bulge as yet).
Just want to understand the logistics after the kidney transplant. (My case the graft is located in the center of the abdomen. (as I have a native pelvic kidney..a genetic drawback )
Thanks
Hi @l0lag0lag0b3 😊
Is it possible that your abdomen pain during activity is caused by the mesh from your previous hernia surgery before transplant? Or just because you have a new kidney in that area now? (Without a bulge, I wouldn't think this is a new hernia).
Hi @jackie421blfdgurl 😊
Our friend l0lag0lag0b3 has a few questions about your successful hernia surgery....
Did a general surgeon fix your incisional hernia after your liver transplant? And if the hernia surgery was done at Mt. Sinai, was it done with with your transplant team's coordination? ....and were you happy with the result? Thanks Jackie!
