Brachioradial pruritus. (severe itching on forearms and neck, no rash).

Does anyone know of this. I think its rare but does exist. My neurologist does not know about this. I have compression between my c5 and c6 cervical disk and have had alot of sun damage to my skin.

I went to my first appointment with a NUCCA chiropractor last week and have had a very good week with very minimal itching. I haven’t had to use an ice pack all week! I am guardedly optimistic. But I must say I haven’t had this long a stretch of itch free for quite sometime, and I’m talking months and months possibly even a year or more.

BRP due to neuropathy of the small C fibres may respond exceptionally well to Perineural Injection Therapy. It is a neuropathic itch and subcutaneous injections with Dextrose 5% reduce neurogenic inflammation and symptoms. See more about PIT on John Lyftogt’s website. . I’ve had great success with treating the anatomical fields of the radial (and all it’s distal branches) and axillary nerves. This is anecdotal, but a low risk procedure with minimal side effects. Topical creams only mask the symtoms or modulate the pain whereas PIT treat the condition. I’m also using it for notalgia paresthetica a similar neurophatic condition.

I have had five weeks now of treatment from this chiropractor and haven’t been this itch free since it started. I am very pleased. Regular chiropractic didn’t help but this is totally different. It really doesn’t seem like she is doing anything because there is none of the popping and twisting of regular chiropractic care. It is very gentle. I was skeptical at first thinking she wasn’t doing anything but she has helped me tremendously! She is a NUCCA chiropractor. There are not many around. I am traveling nearly two hours for treatment but will continue till the day I die for this relief.

Absolutely. I live in Florida. The summers (basically April to November) are worse for itching.

Where does one go for this injection therapy? Interesting and hopeful treatment.
