Thank you so much for your response. I have edema in the feet for fifteen years. I wear compression stockings daily, three years ago I underwent a total knee replacement and I believe that started the ball rolling. I have gained about seventy pounds. My family doctor sent me for a series of tests. I was checked by a cardiologist, urologist, nephrologist and a vascular surgeon. In summary they said that my blood tests are excellent, my heart is normal and lungs are clear. Liver and kidney functions normal. That apologized and said they are sorry but they seeno reason for the edema. I will have to live with it (and I suppose keep buying larger clothes if it continues. I have tried diuretics to no avail.
If I would know that the Mayo clinic could help me i would make all efforts to come. I live in Israel and planning such a trip requires much preparation and money. There is no purpose going through it all just to hear them say we’re sorry but we can’t help you.
At least I now know the medical term for it. The hardest part is bending over for my socks ad shoes. When George Burns turned ninety he was asked if he felt different and he said when I bend over to tie my shoes I think what else can I do while I’m down here already……..

I know it's probably even harder to deal with the edema when you've had a large weight gain. I finally was able to get my weight under control this past year and half using intermittent fasting and a low carb healthy fat diet. If you think it's something you might want to know more about there is a discussion on Connect --- Low-carb healthy fat living. Intermittent fasting.
