What were your first signs of endometrial cancer?
What symptoms did you have that led you to your physician before you received a diagnosis of endometrial cancer?
I had entered menopause more than a decade ago so menstruation was done. I discovered vaginal blood one morning. When it happened again a few days later I realized that something was going on but I didn't suspect cancer. I just knew this wasn't normal. I made an appointment with a gynecologist. Within a few weeks I began having cramps like I used to have when I first started my period as an adolescent. By then I was already under the care of the gynecologist who did a D&C and that's when the endometrial cancer was diagnosed.

I too had same experience as nature girl. No cramps though. I thought at first it was due to my kidney stones since I usually bleed when having uti but not the case this time. So I went to my gyn to have biopsy right then and got called back for my result immediately.

1 ReactionMy first symptom was bleeding. I was not yet in menopause (mid 40's) and I began having what I thought were irregular periods (more than 1 per month), before long I began bleeding/spotting everyday. I also had pain/pressure in my bladder area.

1 ReactionPost menopausal bleeding. After 15 years of menopause, I started having sporadic sharp pains in my uterine area. I wasn't alarmed, thought it was just gas. Months later, I felt cramping and went to the bathroom, when I wiped blood was there. That was October 2023. Fast forward to Feb 2024...diagnosis stage 2

1 Reaction@rzftoli835 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect and to our support group. You were diagnosed just two months ago and I imagine you are still recovering. It took a good 3 - 4 weeks to recover from the hysterectomy. My Gyn Oncologist told me that while I had just a few incisions on my abdomen because the surgery was laparoscopic I still had the same healing inside as if I had open abdominal surgery. Did you have a hysterectomy? What is the follow-up plan? How are you feeling?

On another discussion you shared that you had acupuncture sessions that were very helpful after chemotherapy. Did you have chemotherapy for endometrial cancer? How are you feeling today?
Thank you and I didn’t have chemotherapy for uterine cancer and had a radical hysterectomy it’s very rare for it to come back but it came back and I was diagnosed last November with cancer of the Omentum (also very rare) I’ve had chemotherapy for that.. I found the acupuncture very helpful..
@shivey That must have been a huge shock after the hysterectomy for uterine cancer that was diagnosed Stage 1a. Are you finished with the chemotherapy? How was the acupuncture helpful to you?
Hi yes it was a dreadful shock, worse than the original diagnosis as it was stage 3 I’m finished with chemotherapy for the moment but have to have a laparoscopy next month to see where to go from here.. I’ll have checkups and scans every 3 months.. I found the acupuncture very soothing and relaxing. The therapist is very good.. think that’s what makes all the difference
