Constant burning throat and nausea

Posted by xcatoverx @xcatoverx, Aug 1, 2019

Hi, I am wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar to this. I’m 20 years old and have suffered from nausea and burning in my throat for several years now. I have seen two GI doctors who have tried a few different PPIs and have tested me for many things, but I continue to get worse. Currently I am diagnosed with GERD and Fructose Malabsorption. PPIs seem to help with “regular” heartburn which I would get after eating a meal, but the burning in my throat is something different. It comes out of nowhere, usually two or three hours after I have eaten something or when I wake up in the morning. It will last for 2-3 days (sometimes more) straight with severe nausea, bloating, and gas. During these spells I can barely eat anything and medicines like Gaviscon, Zantac, and Pepto don’t even touch it. Then, I will wake up the next day after having a spell and the burning will be gone, but I am left with a queasy/nauseous feeling most of the time. I have drastically changed my diet and don’t eat or drink anything acidic or irritating. I don’t have coffee, chocolate, sauces, fried foods, etc. I also don’t smoke and I am pretty underweight. Does anyone have any ideas or tips? I am so desperate for relief that I am willing to try anything.

I have had something I can only describe as "burning blood" it is more than burning or nausea, it is when I am supine and I can feel it mainly in my back but also around my heart. Sometimes it feels like a 10. I find some relief with Alkaline water, Nunn tablets for electrolytes occasionally, I've experimented with putting my bed at an 11 degrees slant but I don't think that's fully it, I've changed to a non-lectin diet (Dr Gunderson), which has helped totally with fecal incontinence that was a troubling symptom for a couple of months. The only other thing that helped with this was Tylenol 4, but I stopped using this when I cured my migraines by having extracted a 2nd top molar. Codeine "puts your poop in a group!" Removing lectins takes care of the same problem. This week I am going to try intermittent fasting, to try to stop the burning (and also the tachycardia that comes with it nightly) eat only 8am - 6pm. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I have had a transverse myelitis to a quadrivalent flu vaccine in 2015 where it settled in a crushed disc in my back at about the same area. Don't know if this is coincidental or has something to do with it. I got over the TM in abut 3 months, with some residual weakness to left hand. The burning blood & fecal incontinence that went away with removal of lectins, could be a symptom as well. I was incredibly lucky. A cousin was paralysed from the same flu vaccine, for 11 days and had to learn to walk again. One young boy in our area is still paralysed from it.

I am not sure how to use CONNECT.
I have had a throat problem for about a year.
I feel like I have a lump in my throat or phlegm that I can not bring up.
I have been to an ENT and allergist --- been scoped four times- tried nexium--montelukast - ipratropium-- flonace---all the known "cures" for phlegm. No help !
This condition started around the time after cervical surgery for a disc problem. The condition seems to go away when I sleep. As soon as I move around in the morning the "phlegm returns.
Any comments please.

My condition is "like" a lump or phlegm which I can not bring up.
It seems to go away when I go to sleep and then when I start to move around in the morning the "lump" comes back. Sometimes when I am outside -- in the wind-- I feel like the throat might close up.
This condition started a short time after neck cervical surgery--maybe the breathing tube damaged the throat ? Maybe there is nerve damage. Is an MRI the next step?

Have you consulted with an ENT specialist and has Barrett’s Esophagus been ruled out? You might also consider finding a holistic nutritionist or doctor with your continued symptoms with normal OTC treatments. The old saying “you are what you eat” really holds true you will learn as you age. Sorry you’re having these difficulties at such a young age. I hope you get a handle on this and good luck.
