Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

Thanks for your note, @leslie2121. I'm trying to stay active and will continue to get out and walk .

I was walking regularly but it didn’t prevent the thoracic compression fractures unfortunately. My PT had had me do abdominal strengthening (side and regular modified planking, core work) and using 10-20 lb weights. I try to keep it up on my own. She kept saying doing that is key.
Hope you get good results! 😊

@windyshores: thanks! I'm hoping that this is the case and will ask my specialist this week.

My doc said there are "growing pains" in the early months of treatment with Tymlos so I assume the same is true with Evenity which "turbocharges" growth!

@leslie2121 with thoracic fractures I could not lift much at all. Interested in your PT having you do 10-20 lb. weights!

I have had 8 monthly injections of Evenity. The first injection left me with joint pain and stiffness for about a week. On the recommendation of the Nurse Practitioner I now take Zyrtec an hour before the injection and daiy for a couple of days after the injection. Since starting the Zyrtec I have had no joint pain or stiffness. There is usually soreness at the injection site that lasts about a day. I hope you find relief from your pain.

To be clear, I didn't do much but lay around the first few weeks as I was in so much pain! After about a month, I started very slowly with PT. After 8 weeks, I was using weights to add to some of the exercises. It was definitely a slow process but I want to keep it up as much as possible.

Hi everyone. I've just started Evenity. I'l have my 3 injection this week. Has anyone else experienced significant joint pain? Does it last throughout the process? Does it improve while on treatment? Does it worsen? I have to say it's creating mobility issues for me as my joints ache and I'm maxing out on Extra Strength Tylenol daily. Appreciate your thoughts!

I"ve had 4 sets of injections, and the first couple did give me some stiffness and slight pain in my joints in addition to being a little fatigued. The last 2 sets, I've had nothing but the soreness at the injections site for a couple of days. I"ve found the best thing I can do is try and keep doing the things I'd normally be doing. Good luck and I hope your joint pain does ease up.

anybody else who has taken Evenity, please feel free to answer. I would like to know how much improvement in bone density readings you got? Thanks

I would like to hear about peoples' results from Evinity too. Evenity was only approved in April, 2019. So no one here has taken it for more than, at most, a few years, unless having participated in one of the European studies. But the drug was tweaked after initially rejection by the FDA. So there are virtually no long-term studies on this particular iteration of the drug.

I posted recently about my successful Evenity treatment. After 12 months with only a slight rash after month 8, my osteoporosis went from -3.7 to -2 .7 in my spine and from -3.6 to -2.6 in my hips. It's still osteoporosis, but greatly improved. My only complaint was the $400+ co-pay each month.

Evenity I have NOT tried that Medication. Thanks for mentioning it will be researching it immediately
I have and am taking too many medications to go through the list. Some help some, some help sometimes, most not sure if they help at all, still there you have it.
Have tried Bio-wave with some limited success. Some have told me they did a little better with it than me. I use the Sonic Wave Wand helps me over the rough spots. Tried the TENS. Can only say it can be helpful till you turn it off. Then be ready with the ice pack.

Injections are tough RFM is tough unfortunately for me I in the supposed small percentage of persons who it does not work. I wish you luck. And if injections give you substancial relief. You are already lucky.
