Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

Hi - I just finished my 12 injections of Evenity. I had no real weight gain. Im waiting for my DEXA scan next month to see how the medicine worked.

When I do my DEXA on June 27 I will post my new results and the previous numbers.

how much of an improvement did you see? Can you tell us the actual numbers or how much % improvement did you get? How much strength improvement did you see too? Were you able to lift heavier weights? The official numbers the drug company gives seem like very minor improvements like 10%. I am trying to consider the real benefits considering you are taking on the risks of stroke, etc. Thanks in advance for sharing.

I don't feel like hunting it up. My doctor was pleased. I am still in the bone density indicating Osteoporosis, But since I'd been getting less and less bone density through the years, I was glad to stop the decrease and turn in the other direction. However, I continue with all the cautions. I hadn't been doing weights before. Now I use 5# ankle weights and 3# hand weights (I started with 1 1/2#s about a year ago.) It's been over a year since Evenity and I went onto Prolia after Evenity. I don't get another Dexascan until the fall and that I hope shows more improvements. That will be 2 years after going off Evenity. I started Nutritarian eating about a month ago, have lost 5 pounds and feel better nourished than I ever have in my life. Dr. Fuhrman's book "End of Heart Disease" made some reference that research shows benefits from Nutritarian style eating for Osteoporosis as well, so you could check that out to see if it appeals.

It's a hard decision. I postponed for about 8 years after I ignored the first Fosamax suggestion I was given by a doctor. If you get quiet and ask your body what it wants, you may feel the answer you need.

Did your bone density actually increase after taking Evenity? Everyone talks about the short term pains of the shots, but no one discusses whether the Evenity actually improves the bone density readings?

Hello, I am new to this site but need to hear from anyone taking Evenity. My doctor has recommended it since my dexascan in January showed numbers of 4 in my lumbar spine. Yikes! this is my second doctor and still no treatment, insurance denials from Cigna are ongoing...

I just had 5th Evenity injection. Few side effects so far I think. I have severe arthritis so joints usually hurt anyway. I will see how Dexa looks when I’m done.

I posted recently about my successful Evenity treatment. After 12 months with only a slight rash after month 8, my osteoporosis went from -3.7 to -2 .7 in my spine and from -3.6 to -2.6 in my hips. It's still osteoporosis, but greatly improved. My only complaint was the $400+ co-pay each month.

Yes, 20 years of fosomax, actonal, and one time only, horrible Prolia. The fosomax and actonal caused no side effects, but didn't help at all. They may have kept me from getting worse though. I didn't do well with Prolia and wouldln't take it again..
Evenity was a last ditch effort and it worked.
