Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

My endocrinologist recommends Reclast at end of Evenity.

My endocrinologist did as well. But my rheumatologist did not. I think rheumatologist is the one I trust more. He's world renowned and I think there is a different train of thought between these two specialties. Im going to go with Prolia as its twice a year and I feel that with my Osteoporosis being so bad that I want that extra push half way through the year. But you know everyone has to make their own choices.

I am halfway through my Evenity shots and then plan on going on Prolea forever. My osteoporosis is terrible so I am just thrilled that these treatments are available. I go to a very well educated experienced rheumatologist and this is his recommendation. I also read a good bit about various choices but this seemed like best plan. I really do not want to break my hip! Thank goodness for these meds

I feel like I did well with the year on Evenity. My spine went from Osteoporosis to Osteopenia! Ill take it. My doctor told me in 3 years I should be in full Osteopenia on all areas so Im going to move forward with the plan. I had a wedge compression fracture on my spine and I dont want another one.

Thank you so much to take the time to share your experience. I think that your last post is the most constructive amongst the 33 pages. In addition it sends a positive message for those who are taking Evenity.
Personally my Dexa is so low (-4,7) that I can’t have high expectations. However you raised my hopes.
Take care

Do not feel like this. Yes it's low but it will take time to get where you feel different. But never feel defeated. Walking is good for our long bones so try to walk. I have a treadmill so I walk everyday. Slow but Im walking. And stay with the plan. It will take a few years but gradually you will get where you feel better about it. Reach out here to me if you want. Im very postitive and I will try to help as much as I can.

As you saw I had the same results. Im now in Osteopenia in my spine. (-3.3 to -2.3) similar improvements in my other areas. Borderline Osteoporosis/Osteopenia. So Ill continue now to Prolia. The 12 months of Evenity were a breeze. No side effects at all. Just sore arms where the injections go.

Such a warm message full of positive energy! I will be there for you too.
I also find having a treadmill very useful. It is also very safe.

I’m curious about whether the different doctors suggested changes in your diet to help in building bones? My endocrinologist did suggest I make sure I included more healthy fats and proteins to aid in bone building. I had been a vegetarian for 11 years as well as gluten intolerant. I’m on Evenity and have four more treatments. The plan includes Reclast next for whatever medicine has shown to be most effective for the next year. I appreciate all of your individual experiences.

I have a low Mgus...yet my drs reports say, abdominal IGG kappa. I haven't been able to research anything related to abdominal mgus. Could this be a typographical error?? It has been stated in the past 3 reports. Im wondering if it's an a typographical error. How could they determine its abdominal??
If anyone has heard of this, I'd love an explanation. Just to let you all know, YES, I will ask and discuss on my visit in February. Just wondering.

I’m nervous about taking Evenity also. I had terrible side effects from prolia and Amgen makes both of these.
I have had one injection of Evenity and now find out that I need dental surgery. There is a warning not to have dental surgery while on Evenity, but I do not have a choice.

I just had my third dose of evenity yesterday. After the 1st dose I had a headache for a couple of days. A headache after the 2nd dose, and so far today I feel fine. Good luck to you.
