Where to find free online counseling?

Posted by witsend000 @witsend000, Jun 13, 2022

Does anyone know where to find a free online place to talk to someone?…Anonymously and through a discussion board or email?

I know here is kind of like that, but I am too negative an influence for group discussions…and also some subjects would probably be too sensitive for this format.
Thank you.

Hi @witsend000, can you share a little more information so I can help you finds some answers? Do you just need to talk about your depression and anxiety? Are you having feelings of harming yourself or others? How long have you been experiencing symptoms?

Thank you for responding Amanda.
I am looking for a way to talk out/vent anonymously but without being a detriment to others as could happen using the group forums. I am looking for a trained person who will not be negatively affected by my negativity.
I have had thoughts of self harm/hatred since I was six years old.
I am on lexapro. (sorry for saying “I” so much) I have a lot of symptoms physical and mental that are making daily living difficult. I just want to be useful & helpful to my family (particularly my husband and ailing parents).
My husband is also on lexapro for anxiety and depression. I don’t want to bring him down further by venting my negativity to him. I also need to be productive for him and my parents.

Thanks

I have sometimes been known to reach out to a crises counselor online by text. I did this in prior years due to family problems. Trying to find one though recently has been very hard. If anyone knows of one....

Hi @witsend000, thanks for sharing more information! I did find a few options that you can look further into.
I would also recommend making a friend here on Connect that you feel may have similar circumstances so you can vent to one another without feeling like you are overwhelming someone.
