Who are the best pulmonologists for MAC/bronchiectasis in Texas?
I have been searching this forum for the best pulmonologists in Texas for MAC/bronchiectasis (I am in Austin) and I keep seeing Tyler, Tx and Dr. McShane's name. Is that the best place to go in Texas? Are all the docs there good or should I try to get in with Dr. McShane? My bronchoscopy results have not come back yet but since the doc saw pus in my lungs I am expecting a MAC diagnosis. I am also trying to get in at NJH since we visit Denver a lot. Any recommendations for a specific doc there? Thanks!

Dr Mcshane is wonderful. She is knowledgeable about all the organisms
that are in our lungs. She is also a great pulmonologist familiar with
other issues we might have. She is also very caring.
Dr McShane is featured in this NTM Info and Research video. She is excellent!
Thanks @becleartoday ! I watched that video a couple of nights ago and learned sooo much! I am waiting to hear from the nurse at Dr. McShane's office to schedule me for an appointment. I just found out that one of the pulmonologists in my group specializes in bronchiectasis (according to a staff member) but I am not allowed to switch to her because of office policy (whaaaat??). I really need a good pulmonologist! The good news is my gram stain came back only positive for Haemophilus Influenzae so I am on Levofloxacin for a week. Fingers crossed!
Fingers crossed! And if you really want to see a particular doctor, be pushy 🙂
Best,
Linda
Oh, yes, @becleartoday I have pushed to switch to the other doc in the practice to no avail.
You can always pull out your Ace - OK, I'm quitting this group altogether and going elsewhere! It worked with mu ortho surgeon's group.
