Posted by lilllese1967 @lilllese1967, Mar 3, 2019

Hi ,
Was curious how your recovery went after having a DCR eye surgery for Cronic Dry Eye's. As only in my left eye had this done as external. This pass Mon Feb 25 th, so far everything is going well as most swelling is down and no issues has arrised . I did not have to have my nose gauzed as hardly bleed during , so was thankfull for this .
I will go back in 3 months to remove the stents. As now to try hard not to blow my nose etc and get to 10 days than follow rest of restrictions. Has anybody had any issues or things I should know and how have your results been ?
I was told I won't notice much till after that . But I have not had and watering from my eyes yet. So any info etc..greatly appreciated 😊

They are wanting to do the tear duck bypass on my too. I think it’s call DCR. It sounds scary, do you have a lot of pain. Mine started in mid January and it was all dark and a little swollen around my left eye. After a week or so the dark coloring went away but I have a very dry left eye, it hurts, watery and my vision in that eye is blurry. Is this any similar symptoms that you had?

Hi was your eye filmy like and your vision blurry and did your eye ever feel like it didn’t want to open in the morning but wanted to close at night. The doctor said I needed a tear duck bypass and to come back in three months after thinkings about it. Which this started in the middle of January. Does my symptoms sound familiar to what you have/had going on? Thank you in advance for your reply.

@grandmalizzy, have you had your surgery yet? @tboyd5000 is also considering surgery and would like to hear about your experience.

Boyd, what concerns do you have?

I think my concern is when the eye specialist told me it’s a major surgery anywhere from 3-5 hours long and I was looking at 80 to 20% that it would work. Also he started telling me about having to make a cut in my nose and go around the tear duck and they would cut away small part of the bone it to serve as drainage in place of the tear duck drainage system, it’s the DCR surgery in my left eye only. I am going for a second opinion on the 1st of June. My eye feels so heavy. I do limit my screen time because it makes my eye feel like it is getting tight and a pulling sensation so I guess I’ll being go through the needles in my again to test my tear ducks.

Hi, I went and saw my eye specialist yesterday to get a second opinion and and my luck turned out I do have a blocked tear duck in my left eye. He was very nice and gentle while he was testing both of my eyes with what seemed to be a needle. My right eye is fine but it’s my left eye that’s blocked. He told me that it was completely up to me whether I want to have surgery or just try to live with this the rest of my lift. Of course I do not want surgery but yet I can’t go one like this. Mine started in January and hasn’t gotten any better at all. I miss driving, going to the stores and get outside without the air or a breeze making my eye hurt and I just have to close my eye and squint so it won’t hurt as bad. So they are going to call in a referral for a surgeon in St. Louis, MO. I did ask him if this was his wife or a child if his where would he take them. He said there are two really good ones he knows of and he would trust them with his family. He’s a good Christian man and that means a lot to me. So the office was to call the hospital today and now I just wait until they call. I will be getting it done sometime within a month because I do not want to drag this out any longer. I’ve read in the group that some have had it for decades but I just think I can do that. So I will update when I know more. I would like to hear from anyone that’s had this DCR procedure that was done on the outside by the upper nose. I’m not going to have it done by going up through my nasal passage. Thanks for all of your input. I’m looking forward to hearing from anyone.
Thanks,
Teresa
