I'm having problems with my Aerobika: What are your solutions?
I am having a great deal of difficulty with fluttering and my aerobika. I am having trouble getting it to flutter upon exhale. Is there anyone else who is experiencing this and if so, what are the solutions? I keep having to hit the aerobika to get it to flutter. Thank you. Terry

I have several Aerobikas that I rotate through weekly. I sometimes attach my nebulizer to the device, especially if I am pressed for time. Weekly, I sterilize them by boiling them all together. The only time I have an issue, is if I did not assemble the device quite right. I just take it apart and reassemble it and it works fine. I have listened to talks by the manufacturers and they say if you experience an issue to call customer service and they will replace the unit.
Wow…most are much more meticulous than I. I too have the Aerobika…my routine has been…soak in sudsy warm/hot water with dish soap(Seventh Generation or something very “plant based/no harsh chemicals”) for at least 15mins. Air dry on my kitchen rack. Reassemble when dry (the side cylinder register only gets wiped with alcohol) and it lives next to the machine. I have never steamed, microwaved or used dishwasher. When I travel, I take a spray bottled of alcohol and soak it with that then just rinse and air dry. I change the tubing and little white sponge filter in the second round green knob next to tubing once every 6 months (suggested by distributor that furnished me the Ombra that goes with my Aerobika). The one time my Aerobika wouldn’t flutter…I adjusted the black stick lever that goes from -1 to +5…moved it back and forth (my husband’s technique of when all else fails…start smashing buttons)… it resumed fluttering…mine stays near the number 5.
I like others have voiced…would defer to the manufacturers directions on sterilization and care of device. I just have never believed that microwaves, dishwashers etc…are good for plastic devices. And also important…would be the level of sterilization required for each user…some like myself cough up NOTHING and others have a lot of mucus or sputum…hence more to clean up after. If it does not flutter…change it out.

Same as cmi and becleartoday, I sanitize my husband Bruce's two Aerobika's daily with a 15 minute soak in very hot water and Seventh Generation dish soap, followed by 10 minutes in boiling, distilled water. Have not been comfortable using either dishwasher or microwave, both of which are more than a decade old and at the end of their appliance lifespans. Also do the alcohol bath once a week and wipe down the neb with alcohol daily. Lots of sanitizing and disinfecting but husband's MAC sputum levels are pretty high so the extra effort seems worth it.
Bruce is on his second set of Aerobika's. After 6 months of daily use at number 5, the resistance began to loosen.
NJH recommends people with MAC should boil their Neb cups and the Aerobika for 10 minutes plus 1 additional minute for every 1000 feet above sea level. It's the only way to kill the NTM Bacteria.
According to the NTM in water research by Dr Joe Falkingham & his team, boiling in distilled water is not necessary, because if there is any NTM/MAC in the tap water, it too will be killed by the boiling. I don't know that the alcohol bath is necessary either, as anything it will kill has already been killed by boiling.

The distilled water does help. When I boiled in tap water mineral deposits build up and effects the Aerobika `s performance.
Ah, that makes sense. My water is thoroughly filtered so I don't have the issue.
We have the same problem using our tap water. Too much mineral build up. Also the folks who provided training for the Arikayce system required distilled water for sanitizing and disinfecting, which is related to the metal parts on the aerosol head.
I bought a new Aerobika on 3/6/24 and received it a couple days ago. It was fine yesterday and I cleaned per routine-hot (boiling) soapy water and rinsed in hot water. It didn’t work today and I could see the little green filter on posterior side was not closing completely, leaving a little open half moon for a second. I called Monaghan and when I gave her the lot number, she said, “ That's what I thought.” She said she had to alert team that this lot seemed to have issues. They are sending a replacement. If you’re having trouble, call them.
@pacathy When and where did you purchase the aerobika? Would it be possible to share the lot # so we all can be on the lookout?
