I too have had horrid insomnia with nightmares and night terrors since COVID back 1/21. It took hours to get to sleep only to wake up an hour later in an overheated sweat. Then it would take another hour to get back to sleep...then there was the dreams. OMG. I averaged 3-4 hours a night at best and never felt like I even slept. I tried teas, melatonin, ashwaghanda, valerian root...just about every herbal remedy known to man. I'm highly allergic to Benadryl (anaphylaxis). Two weeks ago my new PCP put me on a low dose of Xanax before bed. Total GAME CHANGER! I am able to fall asleep, stay asleep, no more crazy dreams and I literally pop out of bed feeling refreshed. What a difference sleep makes. I never wanted to go the narcotic/controlled substance route...but I am glad I did.
I’m on “your life will never be good again” never sleep, sleep non-stop coaster also…Covid bought me a ticket. Nothing has helped or made a difference so far. Hang on tight it’s a rocky ride.

I had severe insomnia when I had Covid19 back in December 2020. I was sick for a month and had strange sleep patterns. I would "half-sleep" and then have the same dream every time I started to drift to sleep. I tried 9mg Melatonin but that didn't really help.
When I returned to work at week 4, I asked my primary for a sleep aid. I was prescribed an old anti-depressant that is now used for sleep. It is Doxepin and I take 3mg 30 minutes before bed; 6mg was too strong. The 3mg does cause me to get drowsy at bedtime and does not leave me feeling sleepy in the morning.
I wanted to get off the prescription med, Doxepin, and tried a 30mg CBD gummy with good sleep until it plateaued and didn't keep me sound sleep, - anymore (I only took a half gummy because it caused nausea).
I was told by a friend to try Gaia Herbal supplement for insomnia. I will be trying that soon to take a break from prescription Doxepin.
Hope this was helpful - Kim
Yes, i got covid in the end of feb 22, and have not slept a whole night after that. I should probably mention that i at the same time startet to take betablockers for rapid heart beat, so i can not be 100% sure, but my doctors Will not claim the medicine for it.
I had covid last August. Insomnia the whole time. Was exhausted, very ill, multiple symptoms but could not sleep except cat naps. 9 months out, insomnia still here thank you very much. Constant fatigue! If I do fall asleep am up 3-4 hrs. Later and cannot fall back to sleep. I also have tried multiple ways to fall asleep/stay asleep, nothing helps. Long covid headaches, insomnia, fatigue and still limited smell and taste. No one has answers! Until science has some real help for us folks we are left to our own devices.
i had covid pneumonia from june 2021 thru aug 2021. sleep has bern an issue. i found taking a hot shower before bed helps to open the lungs. i got cold sheets which help keep ny body cooler for sleeping and i go to bed in a cool house 70-72 degrees max. i actually prefer 68. go to bed and get up at set times. and eat no later than 2 hrs before bed. last but not least i put on my oxygen before i go to sleep. this strategy now allows me to get about 7 hrs of sleep straight through. i still need a nap during the day.
Yes ! I have severe insomnia it’s driving me crazy. I barely sleep, two hours per day, I wake up so many times at night, I don’t know what to do anymore, it is interfering in my life.
YES!!!! Before COVID Jan 2022, I would fall asleep no later than 930pm up 430am like clockwork everyday. Secadiam work rythem, since COVID I am lucky to fall asleep before 2am and up no later 530am. Everything from baths to mindfulness, to breathing, to very minimal dose edibles, Benadryl and like give me horrific restless leg, allergic to many prescribed medications. Nothing has not is working. I have even literally physically exercised or worked myself thru the long day hoping to succum to total and complete exhaustion. No win there either.

How long have you gone without sleep?
I’m glad you found something that would work for you. I take Klonopin but am tired the next day.
What is the longest anyone has gone without any sleep at all? Have you heard of someone who doesn’t sleep?
Some nights I get 2 or 3 hours sometimes one hour-sometimes it’s the next morning before any sleep comes.
