Brown spot in my right eye! What could it be?

Posted by riflemanz64 @riflemanz64, Apr 24, 2022

I got done doing some work outdoors yesterday and when I came in I noticed I have a brownish spot almost looks like a water drop in my right eye. It moves around. I'm calling the Eye Dr. on Monday. Anyone else ever get this?

Hello @riflemanz64

I am so glad to know that you have an appointment with your eye doctor on Monday. I'm sure you will be glad to get an answer to this problem. Since you do not mention any eye discomfort or any change in your vision, I'm guessing that it is just the brown spot that is concerning you. Is that the case?

I did find some articles on the internet. Here is one from the United Health Care Company that you might find helpful.
Here is the link to that article https://www.ushealthgroup.com/2022/01/11/brown-spots-eyes/. Here is another article from WebMD, https://www.webmd.com/eye-health/eye-freckles.

In these articles, these spots can be referred to as "eye freckles" and exposure to the sun, genetic factors, etc. can cause this. Has anyone else in your family had this same problem?

I look forward to hearing what your eye doctor has to say. Will you post again after your appointment on Monday?

Hi, It’s affecting my vision from inside the eye. It’s not a spot which can be seen. Cataract maybe?

Could be “floater”.

Do they go away on there own?

Cataracts are like a cloudy film over eye.

I have a floater in the vitreous. Dr. said come back in 3-6 weeks for a follow up. Not a big deal.He said it was good to get it looked at in case of something serious happening later on.

Good you had it properly checked out. I too have floaters that eventually will need to be operated.

Hi,

Thanks for letting everyone know the outcome. If any floater becomes stationary and does not move around or “float”…then you get yourself to the eye Doctor asap. I had a stationary floater back in 1985 and it was a good thing my optician was on the ball….he immediately sent me to an eye surgeon and I had the beginnings of a detached retina….would have been worse if I took my time going…..I did need surgery at that time.
Anything out of the ordinary regarding your eyes is worth a quick trip to the eye Doc….you did the right thing.

FL Mary

Having floaters for many years, I thought that was what you would learn. It is usually a small accumulation of blood caught in the vitreous. When I was young, mine often went away in a few weeks. Now, I have a couple that seem semipermanent, and got the same caution from my eye docs.
