Hi @bvh176, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, an online community where people can share experiences and ask each other questions about any health issue. We can't give professional medical advice.

The full range of symptoms that COVID-19 can cause is still being discovered as more and more is learned about this virus. I found this article for example that mentions skin rashes as an emerging symptom:
- Skin Rashes: An Emerging Symptom of COVID-19 https://consultqd.clevelandclinic.org/skin-rashes-an-emerging-symptom-of-covid-19/

According to this information sheet, the most common cause of hives all over the body is viral infections.

I'm tagging @sueinmn @potterylady @nilshamilton @amart22018 who have had COVID or family members with the virus. They may have some experiences to share and hives or about steroids.

Bvh, how old is your daughter? Are you caring for her at home?

my daughter is an adult, she is taking care of herself at the moment, she has tried steroids and antihistamines but they only give her temporary help and then it comes back as bad as before. wondering if doctors are using anything else for the symptom

Regret I have no ideas @bvh176, but want to express my sympathy for the double whammy your daughter is experiencing. Bad enough to contend with one. With both virus and hives, it must be so difficult to get the needed rest. Hives alone is miserable. Hope others can suggest something for relief.

@bvh176 Is your daughter prone to hives? Who suggested the steroids for her? My daughter had a rash with her virus, managed it with antihistamines and topical anti-itch cream and it went away after a few days.

How about good old calamine lotion?

I am in my first week of post Covid symptoms and yesterday developed a rash under my left arm and between my fingers. This morning I woke up and there are huge bumps all over my legs, very different from the red and itchy rash under my arms (both arms now). The bumps are separate, not clustered as under my arms. I was on an antiviral med but completed that regimen three days ago. I am hoping that this rash goes away soon. I’m using 1% topical hydrocortisone and Benadryl for now. The cortisone cream is offering no relief.
