Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

I have taken generic Prozac for many years. It didn’t seem like it was helping my depression any more. My psychiatrist switched me to Lexapro which is in same category of drugs. He actually had me just switch drugs, no gradual change. I believe it is helping. It has taken a month and I feel better. I hope this gives you hope for a positive change. Best of luck.

Every individual has different needs and I would think your doctor knows best. Although, a second opinion can be an option. If you go to Mayo clinic.org under Drugs and Supplements, you can look up Lexapro or other depression meds to read more about them.

Glad you're off that stuff and sorry to hear about the hell of cold turkey on that stuff. I've had a taste of that horror missing doses of a benzo, clonazepam, and now tapering slowly over 5 months. The other things - weed psychological addiction, sugar, caffeine, gonna white knuckle the weed as I'm out soon and saving to take the bar exam. I'm going to try using CBD oil as I heard it's effective at reducing anxiety, lifting mood, and so on. Thank you for sharing and wishing you, too, and us all, good health and peace. Will ask my pharmacist about expected withdrawal. Thank you!

I am clinically depressed for years. I am using medical marijuana for pain and it has helped my depression for the most part.

I suffer from anxiety and depression severe.. went to a psychiatrist ..tried many of the popular medications.. Prozac paxville and many others ..none helped ..some made me feel worse ..I eventually gave medical marijuana try .. my mood was elevated..
I felt better ..I felt like living again ..it's also a great pain reliever for neuropathy ..lower back pain.. it's not for everybody.. but it works well for me.. you have to make sure you do some research ..if you're a first-time user ..because some people can have reaction to it.. small doses at first

It didn’t work for me?

CBD Oil calms me down dramatically and has another side effect for me - reduced blood pressure. Nice! Not for everyone though, CBC Oil doesn't work for a friend, and for my brother. Try it & go slow at first in case you have a bad reaction. I usually use 5mg or 10mg or 15mg depending on how severe my anxiety is. Also helps me sleep. One side effect - dry mouth, but still well worth it.

GeneSight.com is genetic testing site I used, with my psychiatrist's involvement, to determine an effective anti-depressant for me. I've been on Desvenlafaxine (50 mg / day) for 2-3 years, and it is working better than the many others I have ever been on, which were all in the column on the report of being only a little or moderately effective. I've had three suicidal ideation episodes at 72, and my brother (age 84) has tried to commit suicide at least 25 times, according to his wife of over 50 years who almost divorced him because of it many years ago. Thus, my depression is severe, and GeneSight.com was literally life-saving for me. FYI.

I have never heard of this drug. Has it been around for a long time? I have good things about genetic testing as well, glad you found something that works for you.

You may be more familiar with desvenlafaxine's brand names Pristiq or Khedezla.
