Iron Depletion in Blood related to COVID?

Posted by stellm @stellm, Jun 11, 2021

Has there been any reports of iron depletion in the blood after receiving the Pfizer vaccine?

Thank you! I suspect your blood sugar rise is due to iron deficiency. I hope with increased iron and ferritin, your A1C will improve shortly!

I think the same. It was on news this morning that covid is now thought to increase chance of diabetes so makes sense

This is very interesting as I am also dealing with iron-deficiency anemia after my Moderna vaccines. In March 2021, I received my second Moderna vaccine. (In August '20, my CBC was normal for all parameters). Few months after my second vaccine I began feeling winded on minor exertion. Blood test indicated low HGB and iron (and very low ferritin). All other lab tests were normal. Upper and lower endoscopy showed no problems. Now seeing hematologist and receiving iron infusions. Waiting to see if iron levels will remain steady or drop back to low levels.

I’m glad to hear that the endoscopies were good, hoping for the same. Did they try supplements for you first or go straight to the infusions?

I posted previously. Same circumstances only Pfizer vaccine. Be sure to post on VAERS site. So far,no one seems to take this seriously. I'm awaiting gi testing. Taking 65mg ferrous sulfate 3x day. HGB NOW BACK TO 12 always ran 13.5 before. Never had anemia before.

Tried 65mg iron supplements for 4 weeks (2-3 times a day). Dropped out for 1 week due to GI pain from the iron. Most levels are up but not normal. Just finished my second infusion. Scheduled to get 5 infusions total.

My daughter just had blood work and her iron and ferritin levels are dangerously low. We have contacted her dr to see what’s going on. Her twin sister and older sister are not having problems…they both had the 2 Pfizer vaccines. My daughter with the blood iron problem is the only one who had the 3rd shot…Pfizer booster.

This makes me so sad and I'm worried about her.

Get her to a Hematologist. They will be the best to treat the low iron. I have had two infusions of iron so far. Had the second one 1 week ago. Feeling fairly good right now. Have to do another blood test the end of April and hopefully the iron level will be close to normal. I saw where one person on here said they were scheduled to have 5 infusions. My infusion is called Infed.
