Tsunami fevers and MAC. What about you?

Posted by Lyle @macheese, Mar 3, 2022

Since June 2021, I've had low-grade fever everyday. (99-100.2). Diagnosed w/MAC in September. Each week I have what I call a tsunami fever, the thermometer might read 99.1, but it feels like my body is on fire. It feels like 105! All I can do is rest and wait it out. It can last half a day. Fever reducers have no effect. Full body PET scan was normal. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm worn out.

@macheese, Lyle, you've been dealing with fever for a while now. I see you wrote about it back in January too. Are you still on the watchful waiting protocol?

Yes, still waiting. I did see my ID doctor Monday and she ordered lots of blood work and a CT scan of my chest. I've had these fevers since June 2021. Doctor is now wondering if I have an autoimmune disorder too. We also discussed the Big Three, I don't really want to go there. I was hoping these fevers would be common in this group but no responses. Thanks for your interest!

Lyle, I have fevers and a MAC diagnosis. I've had fevers and chills since last September or October. I wake up in the night feeling like my body is on fire and I need to get out of it, and I'm sweating and miserable. Sometimes I have fevers during the day. I also have frequent chills that are very painful. I've been on the big three for just three months and I think the fevers and chills are subsiding a little.

"My body on fire." Wow, I know exactly how that feels, thanks so much for sharing. I get those tsumni fevers about once a week, the rest of the time I'm 99.0 to 100.2, never any higher. Fever reducers have no effect. What's weird, my body will feel like it's on fire and the thermoter says 99.2. I am consider the big three but nothing is growing in my lungs yet so I'm in watchful waiting mode. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks so my for your reply!
