Anyone had experience with OsteoStrong, who is not a franchisee?

Has anyone had experience with OsteoStrong? It suggests you will get a large increase in bone density while using their facility 10 minutes per WEEK. Somewhat pricey at $99 and up per month, but am curious if anyone who is NOT a franchisee, has experienced this program?

Both my husband and I are members of OsteoStrong in Happy Valley, OR location since February 2021. This is not a gym, nor from what I understand is intended to replace exercise.

It takes roughly 15-20 minutes each week. The goal is to activate growth triggers for various sections of the human body: Upper, Lower, Core, and Postural. They have four devices used to measure/activate the various "growth triggers". Each device provides instant biofeedback with the member's force exertion measured in pounds and multiples of body weight. This data is recorded and is sent to us via weekly report showing the results from the first session, best session, previous session and current session for each section.

I am not a medical professional. Let me know if you have any questions and will try to answer to the best of my ability.

PS..I did have to travel to Iowa for a family funeral. I was able to visit the Clive Iowa location so that I could keep on track.

Hello @lbaisley

I appreciate your comments on OsteoStrong. One facility has opened up near me and I've been thinking of visiting. Have you been active with the program long enough to tell if it is making a difference?

Are you taking it specifically for bone loss?

Would also love to know the answer to this question. Considering it for myself for bone loss.

Hi, Thanks for your post. I have been doing OsteoStrong for 3 months now. As you stated, it's not a gym and I do aerobic and light weight-lifting on the side. My understanding is that the only way to measure bone strength/density is the Dexa scan, so I won't know until I have a new scan whether my bone density is increasing. However, I do feel stronger and the weekly session has prompted me to now increase focus on my nutrition. I wondered if you are doing any specific exercise to build muscle? I believe stronger muscles help with bone strength and density.

I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis at the age of 55. I decided to try a natural approach vs. Fosomax. I have been going to OsteoStrong for 2+ years now. Within the first 12 months I reduced my Osteoporosis in my spine from -2.6T to -2.1T. I also reduced the Osteopenia in my hips from -1.4T to -1.1T. I am due for another DEXA and hope to see this trend continue. OsteoStrong works on bone density, balance and strength. After personally realizing these great results my husband and I invested in opening two OsteoStrong franchises and are now seeing great results in our members.

I have had Osteoporosis since 2006 and during this time have been on every drug manufactured. When I started on Prolia and combined this with weekly sessions at OsteoStrong, the results were Amazing. The osteoporosis in my hip is now Osteopenia & my spine has improved from -4.1 to -3.2… statistically relevant but still Osteoporosis. I will continue both going forward as the combination in my case us working well.

I have been dealing with Osteoperosis since 2017, refused to do medication and wanted to treat it naturally, after trying lots of supplements that did not improve my Osteoporosis, I joined Osteostrong and added AlgeaCal to my diet in six months I went from Osteoporosis to Osteopenia, gaining 19.2% in my hips and 5.5% in my spine. I also noticed my balance and posture improved drastically, I am so glad I joined Osteostrong.

@suemer, I am not familiar with the exact program of OsteoStrong, so I cannot say how high-intensity they are. The workouts may very well be tailored to each participant. It sounds as though you are quite active already, but maybe looking to supplement your current routine. Has your current regimen of activity helped? To be fair, lots of research out there that points to treadmills not being the best option for many people.

I am very familiar with OsteoStrong and have been using it about 10 months now. I have tried everything, actonel, HRT, diet alone, they all reduced the rate of bone loss but none reversed it. For the first time in my adult life, I improved my bone density using OsteoStrong facility. Only 4 osteogenic load machine, upper, lower, stature, and core and 10 second on each does the work. I recommend it highly.

I would think that a regular strength and resistance program would give the same results.

OsteoStrong provides a safe way to get axial loading that stimulates bone growth. 4.2X Multiple of Body Weight is needed to start bone growth in the hips (proven scientific fact). That is hard to achieve with regular strength and resistance training. Also, I have been an athlete in my youth and regularly exercised all my adult life and still was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. Only OsteoStrong's protocol helped me build bone.

I've increased my bone health as well with heavy weights and fewer reps.
