Low Back Pain Going into Hip and Leg
I have had 5 surgeries/fusions on my back and neck. I have not been able to get out of pain. I have lower right back pain, goes into my hip and into right leg. They think it might be my hip now, but doctor took and xray of hip a d they looked fine, he said. So I am in a position where I'm on pain meds and dont know who to see that can help me. I need help be a use of the pain when I get up. I also have pain in between shoulder blades which is secondary to my right lower back. I have had MRI done and they do not see what it may be... I'm just tired of being in pain with no life. I know God sent me to this site to find out options. Can someone help?

Has anybody had radiofrequency ablation shots for cervical issues and if he is how did they work
I am In a similar situation with sciatic nerve pain making my leg useless. MRI shows a bulgin L5 disc that is pinching the sciatic nerve, However I don't have any pain in my back. I can’t Walk, sit, lie down without being in pain. The only position I feel relief is lying on my stomach and that is just not comfortable for my neck or the rest of my body. Honestly I have two Glasses of wine at night and take an advil PM to sleep bc I don’t want to become addicted to the drugs that have been prescribed. I do realize this can also become a slippery slope! I have started to do some research into Piriformis syndrome and I have all of those symptoms so I am hoping to get a cortisone shot into the piriformis muscle tomorrow if my pain management doctor agrees. Let’s hope something works for all of us!
@gator123 Hello there. Yes, I received both cervical and occipital radio frequency ablations over a span of 2 years. C4-7 right side and both right and left occipitals. In the beginning I felt as though they worked however, as time went on I was in more pain overall and the procedures became very intense to take. I got to a point where I threw in the towel which lead to my discovery of Central Sensitization Syndrome (CSS)

I later discovered CSS to be the reason my pain intensified overall. Having needles in a CSS body is very counterproductive to pain management.
I will agree with @loribroda that the lidocaine injection prior to the burning of the nerves hurt more. All in all, the surgical center I went to wrangled people in like sheep so it must work for many, just not me.
So shots r painful
@gator123 A little bit.
I had a similar pain, had several cortisone shots that helped, then didn't, then an epidural with the cortisone and that did help. That was a year or better, so lasting. Every so often the pain lightly. Tried a Bemer mat that my sister has and that did help as well. Thinking about getting one or something similar.
what is a Bemer?
Electromagnetic mat.
I’m so sorry to hear about your pain issues. They sound similar to what I’m experiencing. I’ve had one hip replacement and then a hip revision in October 2020 on the same hip, when I had a terrible accident. I fractured my hip in eight different places, broke my thigh bone, and cracked my skull. Then, that December I got Covid. In addition, both shoulder blades pop out when I reach forward. I do not know what that’s from. My pain starts in my lower back and moves down to my hip and thigh. I can’t smooth out in the mornings and I take prescription ibuprofen which gives temporary relief. I don’t take opioids anymore since I became addicted to fentanyl and had a bad episode. Saw my orthopedic doctor last month cuz I thought there might be complications from the hip surgery starting to develop and causing this pain. He found the surgery had healed perfectly, so that wasn’t the source of the pain. He also told me not to worry about the shoulder blade popping—it’s an “age thing.”
I’m beginning to wonder if this chronic daily pain is a result of Long Covid. I’m an insomniac and thought perhaps the pain was a result of sleep deprivation, so I now take a Valium before bedtime and it helps me sleep and relieves the daily pain somewhat.
I beg The Lord to give me a respite from this pain—it’s really ruining my quality of life. I hope things improve for you…
Have you tried massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic treatments? They help me.
