Low Back Pain Going into Hip and Leg

I have had 5 surgeries/fusions on my back and neck. I have not been able to get out of pain. I have lower right back pain, goes into my hip and into right leg. They think it might be my hip now, but doctor took and xray of hip a d they looked fine, he said. So I am in a position where I'm on pain meds and dont know who to see that can help me. I need help be a use of the pain when I get up. I also have pain in between shoulder blades which is secondary to my right lower back. I have had MRI done and they do not see what it may be... I'm just tired of being in pain with no life. I know God sent me to this site to find out options. Can someone help?

As I have aged, now 71, I find the years of overuse and abuse to be my main areas of pain. I thought Seals and Rangers hand to hand combat until I was 55 and competed in full contact fighting until I was 55.
I never lost because I found in my 60's that I have two double fast-twitch muscle alles. What is that? Ever seen the film clip on Bruce Lee knocking someone into a chair with only the distance of extending his fingers, maybe 2-3 inches.

IMPORTANT point if you can do this. I had extreme lower back pain with nerve pain running down both legs when i was 30. By the grace and peace of God I found a board that bent at my hip and supported my butt and back. I used it for years to strengthen my abdominal muscles and have had over 30 years of pain-free lower back and legs. A miracle and if you can find an apparatus like that and even if you start with a few inches. I have been pain-free for years.

I am taking gabapentin for lumbar back pain and find it helpful. I also take hydrocortisone. I have had no side effects.

I have been on the gaba for four months now and have no side effects other than I sleep better.

@loribroda I'm sorry to hear of your chronic pain. Have you discussed the situation with your general practitioner? Exactly how long have your symptoms been occurring?

CSS is an upregulation of the central nervous system which can be brought on by many factors and cause many symptoms. It's an interesting watch.

I finally got a referral to get an x-ray of my hip and neck. I don't understand what they mean about the neck x-ray, but the hip has severe osteoporosis! I would have to wait for when I see the doctor for him to explain the neck x-ray results.....said something about t6 and t7, the way I take it, is crushing together? I will keep you posted.

@loribroda Lori, you are making progress and moving in the right direction. Osteoporosis definitely brings chronic pain that will have to be managed, how are you currently managing?

I'll be curious to hear what the doc says regarding the neck x-ray. Keep the faith! Thanks for letting me know. Good luck.

Straightening of the normal cervical lordosis with intervertebral disc
space narrowing at C5-6 and C6-7 with adjacent uncovertebral joint
arthropathy laterally. T7 is not visualized in its entirety but the
vertebral body heights are otherwise maintained

IMPRESSION:

Degenerative changes

@loribroda Okay, degenerative changes. It's a bummer indeed that our bodies wear down over time from excessive use, accidents or even hereditary. Now you have an idea of what the culprit is behind your discomfort. What does the Dr suggest for management?

@loribroda Okay, degenerative changes. It's a bummer indeed that our bodies wear down over time from excessive use, accidents or even hereditary. Now you have an idea of what the culprit is behind your discomfort. What does the Dr suggest for management?
