The price of Multaq

Posted by faithshouse @faithshouse, Feb 25, 2022

hello fellow afib sufferers. I so appreciate all of the valuable information I have gleaned about afib from this discussion group. I was just prescribed Multaq, and almost went into afib when I saw the cost. Even with Part D, it is $346 a month! My EP suggested that I take a trip to Canada or Mexico to get it for $30 or so. I would be so grateful to hear of anyone's experiences with bringing the cost down without having to travel to either of those countries. Is it possible to order Multaq from Canada and have it mailed to me in AZ?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi @faithshouse,
I know @sonjafish1945 had a similar complaint about cost here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/330130/

And here is an assistance program you may want to look into. Multaq Patient Assistance Program: https://simplefill.com/multaq-patient-assistance-programs/

Did your doctor suggest any other medication that might be helpful?

Thank you for your response. I have been studying the websites you provided. My doctor did not suggest any other medication. He did mention ablation. Since I only have episodes once or twice a month, and I do not have shortness of breath, or any of the other symptoms that I read that others have, and I feel absolutely fine the rest of the time, I am going to wait to speak with my internist on 4-16-22 to see what she recommends. Unless my symptoms get worse, and I have more frequent episodes, I think I will just hold off. Again, thanks so much for your interest.

I agree. If you aren't having constant symptoms, I would hold off on surgery too.

yes, sometimes I feel they just want to rush you into things. I know they have the best intentions. Thank you again!
