New Lump After Mastectomy

Posted by worried1111 @worried1111, Jan 18, 2022

Received very upsetting news that a new lump on my mastectomy site is indeed cancer. My mastectomy was November 24 (3.8 cm, grade 3, one positive lymph node, invasive ductal carcinoma). The new lump is cancer, possibly in the chest muscle. I’m wondering if anyone who has had a mastectomy before and local recurrence in chest/chest wall could comment on their experience and what they did for treatment. I’m panicking and my MO/ surgeon can’t see me until tomorrow. I would like to have an idea of possible options for treatment

I too have been diagnosed with reoccurrence after 10 years. I found a palpable lump in my clavicle right after my 2nd Covid vaccine. Diagnosis after many tests PET scan & biopsy reveals Mets to chest wall, lungs, abdomen, liver, spine, neck, Mets to bones, rib & lymph nodes in neck. Will start chemo on Feb 4th.

I have been thinking about you. How are you doing? Can you talk about your appointment and what the doctor had to say yet?

@mugs24cancer I am so happy to hear you are doing well after your cancer journey. I also had a Mastectomy on my right side. I have mammograms done on left side. How did they find the cancer near your chest wall? I’m not getting any mammography or MRI on my right side where I had the mastectomy. I’m now wondering what screening I SHOULD be having. Thank you and God Bkess you.

I had a L mastectomy 22 years ago. Sentinel nodes negative. DCIS. Opted out of tamoxifen. Changed PCP recently and she ordered bilateral mammogram which I hadn’t had before. Behold I have a 1 cm mass in my L breast that they will needle biopsy in 4 days. Thankful for PCP

@part, Typo I think. ? 1 cm mass in Right breast? Also, how did they mammo your left side where you had the mastectomy? My surgeon & oncologist do manual exam on my right mastectomy side. Mammo & MRIs on left. I alternated mammos and MRIs every 6 months.
Blessings to you on upcoming biopsy. Please let is know his things turn out. 🙏🏼
