How did you manage the pain side effects of Prolia?
I had prolia injection a week ago. I've developed lower back pain and severe spasms. The spasms are so bad I can hardly get out of bed or even out of a chair. Is there anything I can do or take to alleviate this awful pain.

I was put on Prolia for osteoporosis and after the first shot I had strong body aches and a rash on my legs from knee to ankle. After the second shot I had severe body aches and a really bad rash on my legs. I stopped after this before I could really be in trouble.
Does Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville have an ethos radiation machine? My brother in law has stage 4 bone cancer and is searching for one.
Hi Destinnana, Mayo Clinic uses Varian Medical Systems in their radiation departments. I recommend contacting Mayo Clinic in Florida to inquire further. Here is the contact information for all 3 campuses http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
I was on Fosamax for 10 years with no problem but with no improvement either. bone density of -4.1 for 10 years.
Good Morning! I know each person must make their own choice about medications to use based on their own individual needs. But I feel I must tell you that I used Prolia for Osteoporosis for 3 yrs & now I am dealing with 'death of the jaw bone' or medication related osteonecrosis of the jaw. This jaw bone issue occurred after a dental procedure. I was told that using Prolia for only 3 yrs was not a long enough time period to produce the Prolia jaw problem, & that the dental procedure would be safe. I had previous dental implants prior to using Prolia without any issues, and trusted in the diagnosis given to me. But now, I am dealing with a hole in my jaw which is exposing bone. I am taking daily antibiotics & pain killers. I live with incredible pain & loss of quality of life. It has been 30 days since the dental procedure & the pain is still incredible. I do not know if my jaw will ever heal. I am no longer taking Prolia, & my Ortho Doctor wants me to start on Tymlos. I need to ask my Ortho Doctor if Tymlos will assist in rebuilding my damaged jaw bone? For now I am praying the hole in jaw will eventually heal, so that I can try to get back to living without incredible pain every day.
I'm so sorry you are having such terrible jaw pain. I experienced a similar problem after only one prolia shot. Two months after receiving the prolia treatment, I began having pain in my jaw where I had three implants that had been in place for twenty years. I had oral surgery to remove the implants, but the jaw failed to heal and the bone was exposed, causing terrific pain. I took antibiotics and round the clock pain killers for three months, when suddenly the bone that was exposed loosened and was removed by my dentist. After that, the pain resolved, but the healing is not complete five months after the surgery. I hope you find relief soon.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am happy to hear that your pain is finally resolved, but so very sorry that after five months the healing is still not complete. I hope that your jaw will be fully healed soon. Take care!
Thank you so much! I appreciate the encouragement and good wishes!
I had a problem and did not take prolia then, but now I do. But my old Dr. put me on acyclovir, twice a day. I also brush my tongue and gums which I know helps. After brushing I use 2 parts water and one part hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash.
I had severe muscle spasms like you are describing after my second Prolia shot. I decided to ask my doctor for a physical therapy prescription. I explained to the physical therapist that I have severe osteoporosis (-4.2). He gave me a mild regimen of strength bearing exercises. It has made all the difference. Make sure you are getting 1500 mg of Calcium and Vitamin D daily.
