Has anyone experienced internal vibrations?

Posted by redladyjoni @redladyjoni, Nov 26, 2018

I started having the only way I can explain it is internal vibrations. I've had them for 3 months now, I went to t hihe ER and they told me it was anxiety. A doctor diagnosed me at a clinic as having Lyme disease I've started a 21-day prescription of Doxycycline I'm on day 7. I went to a psychiatrist a week ago to get something because of my nerves are just over the brink. He prescribed me Gabapentin and Valium I've only been on them a few days.
Has anyone experienced these internal vibrations?I have them almost 24/7 chest neck stomach from the hips down. I have more lab tests that should be in today, but the doctor's office said that they would not call unless there was some abnormality in the lab work.

I have them too get over the last two years I've seen many different specialists and had probably $600,000 worth of testing from x-rays MRIs cat scans blood workup urine analysis EEG's EMG nerve conduction test everything under the sun looking for what could cause not only muscle twitching but vibrations that I feel throughout my body as if a jackhammer is jackhammering my bloodstream and it vibrates through me yet I've got 10 different diagnosis and one doctor disagrees with the other doctors diagnosis over the last 2 years. One doctor diagnosed me with dysautonomia yet another doctor disagreed and said it was chronic anxiety so I've taken the path of starting medical marijuana which has seemed to greatly reduce my muscle twitching and my panic and anxiety attacks but I still have strange either central nervous system or autonomic nervous system malfunctions. I have also had MRIs of the neck and the spine and I have at my age of 61 years old I have very common degenerative issues with my neck and spine that go along with my age but they have not found anything really to pinpoint what all these strange symptoms are. So all it is now is a guessing game and it's very frustrating when one doctor disagrees with the other doctor. They all want to rush and put you on some kind of a pharmaceutical anxiety or antidepressant drug and I'm not taking that I'm not doing it. Many of the side effects you get from those drugs just compound the many horrible symptoms you already have.

I even had a $12,000 blood test called paraneoplastic looking for any cancer cells that could be in my bloodstream which would indicate a cancerous tumor hidden somewhere in my body that we're not aware of yet and that came back negative and I had that test on twice over the last two years.

Let me tell you my story which might help you. I was having horrible nerve and muscle pain since I was 13 and not one doctor could find out what was going on. Most doctors told me to go for counseling because they could not find out what was wrong and it was all in my head! And this statement was coming from every doctor I saw even Neurologist and numerous test. I didn't give up because I knew there was something wrong. So in 2000 at the age of 50 I found a Neurologist, who was super smart, did an EMG and realized something was wrong. He said I either have Lupus, MS or HNPP (Hereditary Nerve Pressure Palsy). So he sent me for genetic testing and it came back with HNPP, which is a very rare neurological disease. No treatment for it, only physical therapy and suffer through the pain. But then, in 2011 I had flu like symptoms and I felt like I was paralyzed. The pain was unbearable! Neck, shoulders, upper arms and legs. And again not one doctor could figure out what was wrong. One said Fibromyalgia and then they sent me to UCLA and he said Polymyalgia Rheumatica. Which they were both wrong. Finally, a PA that I went to for my wellness exam said something is not right with my blood work. White count high. She sent me to an Infectious Disease Doctor who was a god send. I have CLL, Latent TB and Epstein Barr Virus had reactivated.
I had Mono when I was 20. But besides all that the pain in muscles and nerves continued and my neurologist said it was not coming from the HNPP. It might be something with the IOS channels. Another autoimmune problem. I get tremors(vibrating feeling throughout my body), and also, they think I have POTS which has to do with the autonomic nerve. Terrible attacks of sweating, frequent urination, heartburn, constant bowel movements and fainting, and it happens even without movement. I could be laying down and all of a sudden it starts.
The neurologist I have now is wonderful and super super smart. He has ordered and MRI of the Bracial Plexis nerves in my neck, he's doing more genetic testing and referring me to a Cardiologist and Rheumatologist (my ANA and RNP are all positive high) He reassured me we will get to the bottom of this. It is very frustrating to have all these symptoms especially when most test come back normal.
But, there is something going on causing all these problems. Never stop looking for answers. We know our bodies best. If I wasn't persistent I would have never found out I had HNPP. Even when I had CLL and I knew something wasn't right, swollen glands, fatigue, high white count, I was told it was a Urinary Tract Infection!!!! Be your own advocate and don't give up. There are answers, you just have to find the right doctor who thinks outside of the box!
But, in the meantime, we have to suffer. I have trouble, sleeping because that's when the symptoms are at their worst. I have trouble walking, doing everyday chores around the house and can only do very little exercise. The best is when I am feeling like this, I take a pain med Tramadol and I rest all day. It does help ease the pain, but does not take it completely away. I hope this helps you cope with what you are going through. Only people who have the same symptoms can understand.

In June, August, and September of this year, I had 3 mild strokes. After the first one, I started having internal vibrations. It feels like my whole upper body is violently shaking but there is no visible shaking. It usually only happens upon waking up, and at first, it was only every once in a while. Lately, it's been happening more often, I've woken up to these vibrations 5 times in the last week, and it happened twice last night. I've mentioned it to the doctors/nurses while I've been in the hospital, but no one has any answers as to why this is happening. I keep forgetting to bring it up to my neurologist, but will be doing that at my next appointment.
Does anyone have any tips on how to at least slow them down...not have them as often?

Hello! I began having internal vibrations about 4 years ago. Because my doctor could not provide a diagnoses it was very frustrating. I had a thyroid biopsy, a Brain MRI, an EMG and 7-8 blood draws.

My symptoms began slowly, every few weeks but after about one year have became 24/7. Two things I have noticed is it seems to “cycle.” I can have several days where I am literally shaking heavily, but only inside (say an 8-10, 10 being worse). Then it drops off to a 4-5. I have also noticed that when I wake suddenly at night it peaks and is often worse at night.

I experience the internal shaking primarily in my torso. Very scary because it is around the heart. I also have it in my cheeks, chin and lips, my ankles and feet. Nothing in my arms or most of legs.

There is no doubt I have lived with severe stress for many, many years And have suffered from chronic insomnia for most of my life.

Pain medication (I take tramadol, 6 50mg per day) and am taking temazapam for my insomnia. But the Temezapam is also very effective in calming down the “storm.” It has been very difficult communicating this to my current doctor.

I have spent the past year learning to tell when I am tense (shoulders, clenched stomach etc.) and finding my own way to naturally relax my body. And calming m mind. When it is bad I can now sense that my brain feels haywire as well so I do some focusing techniques.

I am 99% sure ADRENALINE is a huge factor. I do not know how adrenaline and the nervous system work together.

It was such a relief to find a group of people who have my systems after so many years.

On a side note I also sometimes feel like my cheeks are freezing up. I do not know if this is related or not.

Thank you!!

This is what helped my daughter she also has internal vibrations at sleep onset since 8/2021. She will be posting her story soon I just found this forum today. This is what Helps her gabapentin 200 mg before bedtime with buspar 7.5 twice a day and if she cannot sleep Trazodone 25 mg. Hope this helps. It is very scary when people have this problem and cannot sleep.

Welcome, Biorato. I look forward to your daughter sharing her experiences with internal vibrations at sleep onset. Thank you for telling her about Mayo Clinic Connect's forums. This must've been hard to see happen as a parent until she found a solution that helps her.

May I ask how you discovered the forums and this discussion?

IT SEEMS THAT REPLACING ONE'S REFRIGERATOR IS THE INITIAL REACTION WHEN THE INTERNAL VIBRATIONS BEGIN. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE SINCE 2011. MANY DOCTORS, TEST AND MEDICATIONS. I REMOVED MYSELF FROM ACCUMULATED MEDICATIONS. I APPLIED FOR A MEDICAL CANNIBIS CARD AND AM CURRENTLY IN SEARCH OF AN END TO THIS MADNESS. DO NOT EXPECT THAT THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY HAS ANY ANSWERS. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OF US DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE TO WARRANT THE EXPENSE OF THE RESESRCH. BEST WISHES . BJ MITCHELL

This happened to me for the first time yesterday morning. I didn't even know how to describe it until I was reading someone else describing it. I have had many odd things occuring since I had COVID-19 in August 2021. I have signed up for the Post Covid MHealth U of M, but their 1st opening isn't until March 9th, 2022.

Very well put, most of these types of issues are not gonna show up, believe me over the years I've had so many test run with no conclusion and drugs that don't work for a number of issues. I know what it feels like to be looked at like it's all in your head as well. I also had this vibration happen just of late, ever since I had Covid. I've had many different things that I've never had happen before.. Good luck to you and your daughter.
