Zakova, may I ask why you needed a referral for the COVID vaccine?

I was in MN and the drugs stores initially asked for a PCP referral for prioritizing I assume. I wrote to my PCP and was told Mayo did not provide referrals and I would be notified when the vaccine was available there. The drug stores indeed dropped the referral policy and I got my first vaccine 3 weeks before I heard back from Mayo Rochester. Now I"m afraid the same thing will happen with Evusheld. I asked about it at my PCP appointment on 12/16 and have heard nothing back. She didn't know what is was. I gave her the information. I am moderately to severely immunocompromised. @zakova, @colleenyoung, and all...I received a message on my portal from the Mayo Florida covid task force or whatever, asking me if I was interested in getting the vaccine at Mayo. My understanding is the doctors were asked to submit names of patients with multiple co-morbidities who should receive the vaccine asap. I'm afraid I was one of those folks, so I got the vaccine at Mayo in Jan/Feb, the booster last month. Perhaps you don't have the many health issues that put you in that category. That's a good thing.

My PCP is in the community and isn't and has certainly been busy especially during the covid years. But, I think many of the PCP don't get the newest information. I only know what I know basically from doing online research and searching different sources I respect. They work for large hospitals or whatever ... I think I'm better informed and have told my PCP new information as I learn it, ask his opinion. He's always slightly behind the latest info

I will call the Crucial Care Clinic down the street tomorrow to see what they suggest and let you know what I find.

I contacted my Mayo transplant team about Evusheld (I was at Mayo for an unrelated matter and hoped I could get it while I was there), but they told me it won’t be available until about mid January. I’ll hunt it down when it becomes available.

Hello @mollyv 😊 Could you please keep me posted whenever you hear that the Evusheld is available? I heard mid-January too, but it would be great to know when it's actually available! ❤

Today I heard from my PCP that I did not meet the criteria to receive Evosheld because I tolerated the vaccine and it is not for those who can. However that is not what the CDC guidelines state. It says moderately /severely immunocompromised OR unable to take the vaccine NOT both. I still have no referral which the Florida Health Department told me to get from PCP. I prefer not to go to a provider who is not familiar with my medical history but I guess I may have to. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for the reply. I have been told by Mayo that I am moderately to severely immunocompromised .That meets the criteria for CDC and Florida health Dept. Maybe others are more in need and Mayo is prioritizing. That is good. They should. However,other sites require a referral. That's all I am asking for, and is it safe to take in my condition. That's it. That way I am ready. That's what the Health Department told me to do.

Hi Anyone taking Prazosin also sold as Minipress for Blood pressure control ??? I hear it's been discontinued from 2021 . Any truth to this ?

@nimalw, You heard part of the story, it looks like a temporary issue due to availability.

@nimalw, If you take Prazosin, your pharmacy might have a supply in stock. I would suggest that you refill your current prescription before it runs out, or ask your pharmacist or doctor about a substitute. Are you running low or needing a refill soon?
