Covid and AFib Connection?
Hello Everyone,
I am curious and would like to ask this group a question. I have AFib but had not had an event for over a year except for last November. In early February of this year I took the Phizer Vaccine for Covid and had several Afib events with one lasting over a month even with cardioversion. I ended up having an ablation in May and the electrophysiologist found an enlarged and scarred atrium.
I have been doing well and am still on Flecainade, Metoporal and Eliquis. He is about to take the Flecainade away. It is time for my booster shot and I am scared that it will put me into Afib again. My Electrophysiologist and Cardiologist at Mayo said they don't feel that the vaccine had anything to do with my Afib events starting up again.
Has anyone here experienced this? I am debating whether or not to cancel my appointment next week or just take the shot. My doctors said it is better to take the booster than to get Covid.
Thoughts?
Thank You...Blessings to all of you during this trying time. CeCe55

Good Morning everyone...This is Cece 55 ...I started this post..I promised to keep everyone up to date with my progress after receiving the Pfizer booster. It has now been three weeks and I am fine. I am keeping my fingers crossed and see my EP in early February. He will be removing me from a low dose of Flecainade which I was put on after my ablation in addition to Metoporal and Eliquis. This is one drug I didn't want to go on but now I call it my angel pill!
Blessings to everyone and I am glad to offer positive news to all of us that are sitting on the fence.

You may want to report your symptoms to VAERS at HHS; https://vaers.hhs.gov/
You can also report it to Pfizer.
I've done that, thanks! tp
I have been on Metropol & Eliquis for almost 2 years & have had 2 vaccines & a booster (Moderna) with no side effects.
Hi I had second shot (Pfizer ) in March 2020. After that the AFib which was under control ( sinus rhythm for two years with Tikosyn) triggered and I went through two cardioversions and finally ablation. It is four months I am in normal sinus rhythm. Though doctors never admit my condition had anything to do with COVID vaccine I do not believe them. As we all know COVID is like an elephant everyone is trying to guess what they can. So I have decided not to take booster dose because I do not want my AFib back. Will take care and risk of corona.
Exactly, I'll risk the virus with two shots rather than possibly trigger another bout of Fib.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am wishing you the best.
I am struggling with this question as well. I am considering taking the J&J booster which (a new study today preliminarily shows) provides strong protection against omicron. There is, of course, the rare clotting risk, which I'll need to discuss with my EP, but these vaccines haven't been associated with arrhythmia.
How many days after your shot did go into Afib? For me it was a few days afterwards after both second and third. The first time it only lasted a day. Don’t know about the second as it is still there (10 days and counting)
I have struggled with PVC's for 15 years. Had no trouble after pfizer one and 2, but after the 3rd I had increased and stronger PVC's for about a month after. I even scheduled a visit with my Mayo Cardiologist, but just like that they stopped and I've been fine ever since. But definitely booster related, I am sure of it.
