Transplant: No or Few Antibodies after COVID Vaccination
My daughter received a kidney from her father 15 months ago. She is participating in the Johns Hopkins study of transplant patients undergoing vaccination. The study required that she be tested for antibodies just before she received her second shot. The test results showed that she had no antibodies to Covid-19. I wonder if anyone else on this list is participating in the Hopkins study and can share their experience. I know the study will be asking participants to repeat the antibody test four of five more times over the year after being fully vaccinated. Thank you

Hi @codered032 😊 Great to hear from you!! Are you scheduled to receive the new AstraZeneca covid monoclonal antibodies shots that were just FDA approved for EUA for immune suppressed patients pre-exposure? ...Or are you scheduled to get the Regeneron monoclonal antibodies infusion?
Hello1234 apparently I typed to slow and my first reply didn’t post. AstraZeneca is not currently available, and no start date has been scheduled. My nephrologist did send a referral. I opted for REGENERON which was administered 12/21/21. It took me thee months to finally get a referral and I opted for what I could get.
Great to hear from you @codered032 😊 Thank you for the information regarding your recent antibodies infusion. Which facility did you go to for the Regeneron infusion? And what was it like? There are shortages of the Regeneron monoclonal antibodies treatment in my area now that the holiday spike of infection has begun. No AstraZeneca and very short supply of Regeneron. I am disappointed that it's so difficult to protect myself from covid. But I am trying to maintain my optimism!
Hello I received my Regeneron infusion at UC hospital in Cincinnati OH. I had no reaction to the infusion. The process from beginning to end was 1.5 hours. It has been 2days since my infusion. My plan is to get another antibodies test, hopefully my doctor will give me a referral for follow testing. Hopefully you can get your infusion and it will be successful. Please let me know how it goes.

I will keep you posted on my journey to get some covid antibodies! (After three doses of Moderna, still zero). Did you have the four shots of Regeneron or an IV infusion?
I had the infusion. Took an hour & 20 minutes from start to finish. Have not had any issues since my infusion 12/21/21. Hope all goes well for you.

1 ReactionI received a note from my transplant team (Mayo Rochester) that I should get my 4th shot now. It stated that the 3 doses of the Pfizer shot were my recommended dose and the 4th would be my booster. I got the 4th one the next day (last Tuesday). I haven’t seen any others mention this and was wondering if you all had gotten them also. I again had no side effects. Stay safe!

Those of us who are heart recipients from Mayo Phoenix also received a note a few weeks ago with indications that we are not fully vaccinated as transplant patients without the 4th dose. Five months after the 3rd vaccine is the prescribed time period and they really don't waive this. So mine is coming up on the 25th. And I had Moderna.
