Anyone had a lung transplant? I have questions
Anyone a candidate for a lung transplant? If so I’d like particulars of how you have qualified and what age/health limitations were required.

Hi @burrkay, You may have noticed that I moved your question to the Transplants group, where you're more likely to connect with people who have had a lung transplant, like @wendylsmith44 @paulajcoffer @abmac @wreath @salemke1952 @funk8nguy and others.
While we wait for others to join and answer your specific questions regarding qualification criteria, age limits and health status, you may be interested in these related discussions:

I, of course, know some of your wife's health journey with lung cancer since we've crossed paths in the Lung Cancer group. But perhaps you can share the reason for your query. Is your wife a candidate for lung transplant? Have initial inquiries been made or are you starting your inquiries today?
Hi i am confused what are we talking about?
Hi Colleen-
Thanks…I’ll try those links.
To your questions:
I’m not sure if she is a candidate or not…we suspect she is too old at 79 years(?)…
My thoughts r that in view of the Her2 mutation in her cancer, perhaps Mayo would be interested in her as a candidate, in spite of her age?
She was placed on “chemo holiday by Mayo this past April, due to hospitalization for blood clot and double pneumonia in early March.
After scan in early September, she was given two cycles of Carboplatin/Opdivo “cocktail” to which she had horrible side effects including a hospitalization…another scan indicated the cancer was still growing…so they now have her on Enhertu “cocktail”, which they tell us has proven success for Her2 NSCLC patients.
The concern with this new therapy is risk of potentially fatal toxicity caused from the trastuzumab (Herceptin). Especially since she had lots of scarring caused by it from her My Pathways trial that she had been on for 4 1/2 years prior to the event in March.
So there u have it. My thought is her lungs are severely scarred at this juncture.
Salemke, @burrkay asked in this post https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/lung-transplant-1/ to talk with people who have had a lung transplant.
It doesn't hurt to call and inquire about her possibility of eligibility. Have you already?
