Anyone experience Post-Covid Inflammatory Arthritis?

Posted by leezer @leezer, Apr 7, 2021

Has anyone here experienced an increase in joint pain, elevated sed rate post Covid? I have been told I have a type of inflammatory arthritis post infection. Methyltrexate injections for 4 months has not really brought about a BIG improvement.

Hello @leezer. I am sorry to hear about your post-COVID diagnosis. In order to connect you with others who may have a similar experience or who could provide support, you will notice that I have edited your post title slightly and also included it in the Bones, Joints & Muscles Group as well.

Had you had any arthritis symptoms or diagnoses of any sort pre-COVID or is this all new?

Hi @amanajro
Thanks for moving my post to the right area. I have had arthritic symptoms, positive ANA’s wax and wane for over 20 years with no definitive diagnosis. Hope you have a great Thursday and weekend!

Thanks John - I bookmarked this. Interesting to know they are watching and measuring. Have you found any similar research for the vaccine and PN?

Has anyone had pain after covid in their prosthetic joint ? I have a left THR in 2013. Covid hit 11-2020. I had frequent stem pain with exercise, weather changes. Sometime it’s so bad I use crutches. My orthopedic MD doesn’t know what to do with me? Can I join a study to help myself snd others?

I have had arthritis in my hands and other joints. Months after coming down with Covid, the pain has increased and the areas of pain have expanded. I never put 2 and 2 together that Covid could be the cause. I know I need to chat with my family doctor. Presently I only use CBD cream and Tylenol when it gets unbearable.

I had a big increase in joint pain after the two Pfizer injections. PLaces that had hurt a good bit (like knee joint) began to feel like they were being stabbed by a knife. It lasted about 2 months but I have never gotten back to where I was before the inoculations. I do a lot of research among medical articles online, and I found one saying that some people began having auto-immune symptoms after having covid itself, so there has to be a connection.

I experienced the same after the Pfizer injections, but I had learned what to do. I had an even worse inflammatory flare after the quadravalent flu vaccine last year and it was tamed by a course of steroids. No similar experience with the booster.

My 41yo daughter developed rheumatoid arthritis as part of her post Covid experience. It took massive amounts of steroids to tame it and now she uses a biologic to control it.
