Heel pain after COVID-19 vaccine

Posted by kneadmuscles53 @kneadmuscles53, Apr 14, 2021

Five days before my first Covid 19 vaccine, after several hours of shopping and walking, I suddenly developed a bruised feeling under my right heel. Thinking it was from poorly fitting shoes, I next day switched to more padded and supportive shoes with a good arch support and gradually it began to subside. One hour after receiving my first vaccine shot, after sitting in my car all the hour, I stepped onto the parking lot to go shopping and felt the pain in my heel so strong that I couldn't walk! I sat down to stretch and massage my foot and then limped into the store to briefly shop. I lived very far away from any doctors, so wanted to stay close to the vaccine clinic for a while longer to make sure I had no serious side effects. For a few more days I researched causes of heel pain and called my doctor about it. I had guessed it was Plantar Fasciitis because the symptoms and relief from suggested therapies matched my own. My doctor suggested the vaccine caused inflammation and said to take tylenol if I needed it along with stretching, massage, icing and using arch supports. Two weeks after the second vaccine shot, along with intense self therapy, the pain is very gradually subsiding. It is very upsetting because I have never had any type of foot discomfort in my 72 years and some people in medical blogs said their intense discomfort wouldn't go away. Finally, yesterday I discovered wearing Nike Hyperdunk basketball sneakers with Heel the Pain inner soles completely eliminated the discomfort along with continuing the manual therapy. If it returns, I will visit my doctor. Is anyone else suffering from this condition and what is your story?

I've had my right side heel pad pain and callus since my last Pfizer shot in May along with heartburn that comes every now and then after certain meals, none of which I've ever experienced before. My question to others is do you have Type-2 diabetes, HBP, high cholesterol, or are borderline like myself? My foot pain seems to intensify after I've eaten too much of something with a lot of sugar or salt in it. Grating the hard skin underneath, soaking, and even icing helps to relieve it for a day or so but it comes back. Again, I've never had this problem before the shot.

Thank you all for posting this thread . It is very difficult to find any information related specifically on this topic . Severe right heel pain after Moderna vaccine . I am about to get my 3rd Dose Booster and concerned it will make this pain worse . Having significant plantar fascia ‘‘tis symptoms after Vaccine that I have never had before . The inflammation could be associated with my immune system which could be compromised by the vaccine ? Just a thought …. I have also experienced recurrent infrequent swollen lymph nodes in both arm pits weeks after both doses so far . I am taking traditional advise to correct PF symptoms, but this did not occur prior to vaccine and I have always worn a variety of quality shoes . I am interested to learn more about people having similar symptoms long term . Be well all

Yes . I am borderline too and having same symptoms first time ever after Moderna Vacinne . Thank you for posting and sugar salt advise . That had not occurred to me . Concerned about upcoming Booster making this worse . What is the condition some are having related to the heart ? Seems related ?

I had an auto accident many years ago that left me with a broken hip and sciatic nerve damage, I do not like to take pharmaceuticals for pain so I delved into natural healing and herbs. My suggestion is to find a yoga teacher who can show you yoga poses for releasing the sciatica. You can also Google this on line. I also have a Chi Swing machine [you can find these on line], this releases the tension in the hip joints and allows the lymph to flow freely. To get rid of possible toxins created by the vaccine I suggest the following: I personally use the tinctures, they are more readily absorbed rather than the dry herbs; start with echinacea.
What herbs cleanse the lymphatic system?
Using herbs is a popular way to naturally purify your lymphatic system. Calendula, echinacea, and dandelion are just a few of the many herbs that promote lymphatic drainage, reduce any swelling and pain, and boost your immune system.

Interesting. I had Achilles surgery in October 2020. I experienced complications with the surgical incision in December 2020. I have had increased pain, numbness, tingling and swelling. I had not considered inflammatory response from COVID.

If this is due to components landing in our feet from the delivery systems of the vaccine, there are some things you can try. First, nightly foot soaks in warm water with epsom salts. Second, echinacea tincture or capsules [ i use the tincture] this will aid the lymph system to remove the toxins. If you are able, lay on the floor next to a wall and at the hips lay your legs against the wall, this will give the maximum drainage of the lymph in your legs [stay for at least 15 minutes]. Always drink a lot of water to help the body flush what you have moved around.
I have had this problem for 8 months now and these tricks appear to be helping.

I have had heel pain since my vaccination, but can't honestly say that it was a result of my vaccination because I have a history of foot pain related to plantar fasciitis and tendon inflammation.
Last spring I got my Covid10 shots, and i began walking outside when the pain returned, I was advised to always wear good shoes with arch support, never go bare footed, and to treat it as plantar fasciitis. I added an over the counter gel heel cushion for comfort. In June and August, I went hiking and I was surprised that if I wore my hiking boots that I had no pain! But can't /won't wear those everyday.
In July, my podiatrist suggested that I try a Recovery Sandal by HOKA . They provided arch support that I need, and cushioning for my heel. I don't usually name specific brands, but they worked for me and I could walk with out any pain at all while my heel recovered.

Thanks! I'm going to their site and order me a pair of their shoes to try - my heels & achilles tendons are very crabby right now from wearing flip flops and worn out walkers.
