Nights sweats and Shingrix vaccine
I had the shingles vaccine on May 4. That night I experienced a terrible night sweat. Ever since that night I sweat every night excessively. At least one or two nights a week I must get up and change my night clothes completely. I am on immune suppressant drugs. Has anyone else experienced this?

☺️ I have a new appreciation for when infants are so cranky and cry after their vaccinations. Yes, after a BMT, any immunity we have has been removed with the chemo that cleans out our marrow. So yup, we get to start over with childhood, adolescent and adult vaccinations. At 67 I can honestly say I’m an adult now! Haha the last of the vaccines were 4 weeks ago!
Thank you for your sweet reply. I’m back to 100% after 2.4 years. I am a walking miracle and appreciate every moment of getting this second chance at life. I’ve learned a great deal from this experience. That it’s important we never compare what we’ve gone through with what someone else is experiencing.
You’re going through your own personal battle with having Sjogren’s Syndrome. I can’t imagine the level of pain and discomfort you’re going through on a daily basis. So you have my admiration for staying so positive and upbeat while you’re finding answers and hopefully some relief. Honestly, I’ve said this before, but we really just don’t know how strong we can be until it’s the only option, right? We just can’t ever give up.
You mentioned having acupuncture treatments for the pain in your neck and head. Did this help you? Has this helped with the neuropathy in your felt? Acupuncture has helped me immeasurably over the years for chronic neck pain. I couldn’t have it for the past 2.5 years but finally have clearance to start again. I can’t wait!

1 ReactionSo a bit more info about the acupuncture treatments. I am very impressed by the acupuncturist I have been seeing. She studied for 9 years to get her DAOM (doctor of oriental and assign medicine license) and worked as a massage therapist while going to school.
I was having sinus problems (headaches for 2 months) on top of my neck pain (now 6 months), and willing to try anything to help with the pain. I signed up for a 12 week course of 2-3 sessions a week. The cost was $3200. I am at about 5 weeks in and I have had a gradual improvement in my symptoms. I have had to break up the sessions due to travel, but she accommodated my schedule and when I am home I am there until the 12 weeks are up.
Every time I visit, I tell her my main pain issues, and she asks me how I felt after the last session. The first few sessions I was there an hour and a half and she inserted needles on one side, then took them out and I turned over and she did the other side of my body.
Each time she has put needles in different areas. First she focused on the sinus issues. Much better now in that respect. If she has me face down for needles along my spine, she always put quick needles in my face to alleviate sinus pressure before I leave.
I was having head pain radiating up to my skull from my neck (from bone spurs and nerve impingements in my cervical spine). I am having less pain and fewer headaches, so I truly think it’s helping. She tells me it’s a building process.
It was a big investment so I’m hoping it is worth the cost. It’s fascinating the various feelings generated by the needles. The whole process is mind-boggling.
Anything that helps me feel better is worth a try. I imagine she will want me to co to us to visit her to “maintain” the benefits I’ve achieved, I will keep you posted.

1 ReactionI know this is off topic in the shingrix vaccine comments but I agree with you, anything that helps us feel better is worth a try. Not sure I’ll ever completely understand how acupuncture works but it is the only thing that put an end to my neck/shoulder muscle spasms and the nauseating headaches they caused. So I’m really happy to see you’re having the same relief benefits.
My first experience with acupuncture was actually in my previous PCP’s office. She was an OD and had a certificate in acupuncture. I’d never had it done before but was willing to try. I had no expectations but figured it was worth a try. I was shocked at the immediate difference in my neck! That treatment lasted 6 weeks. But I didn’t want to return to my doctors office because it’s a huge clinic, risk of exposure to sick people and all that…plus, just trying to schedule an appointment for her service was difficult…and then all the insurance hoopla. I paid out of pocket but of course, in a clinic, it all had to be processed through billing and insurance.
Now armed with the knowledge that this indeed worked, I searched my area for a certified/licensed practitioner. My clinician is similar to yours in her education. It’s pretty extensive and felt very comfortable with her regarding professionalism, knowledge, cleanliness, etc. She also has a degree in Oncology Acupuncture and a member in the Society for Acupuncture Research and the Society for Integrative Oncology. She helped me immeasurable during my of AML chemo. But with chemo and the severe neutropenia that causes, my oncologist/hematologist felt it was now too risky. Even though the needles are sterile, it’s still another potential port of entry for bacteria I couldn’t fight.
After my bone marrow transplant I was on meds which left me further immuno compromised. So I haven’t had an acupuncture treatment for 2.5 years. With my last checkup at Mayo 3 weeks ago, the lids on my huge pill box have closed for ever! Yesss. So my transplant doctor gave me two thumbs up to ‘proceed with caution’! I’m looking forward to resuming the sessions.
It’s interesting about the benefit to your sinuses. I’ve wanted to encourage my daughter to see an acupuncturist for her ongoing sinus pressure issues.
Have you also tried deep tissue massage for relief?

I had been told by two Drs I should get these and finally decided to get mine yesterday while at the grocery store since I have PBC. So far only pain at injection site some neck pain. I have leaves to rake today and hopefully will help with sore arm. Prayers for you all to feel better and have a nice Thanksgiving.

It’s like a group of people sitting around chatting and you know how one conversation leads to the next. My apologies.
I had the second shringrix vaccination in October 2017. I still have night sweats and will start sweating even when cold. I have hashimotos so have barely sweat for years. my right leg still has tingling burning itching and pain. Never had it before the vaccination. Several docs have told me they wouldn’t get the second shot. Have been diagnosed with autonomic nervous system dysfunction triggered by the vaccination. My leg issue only happens once or twice a week now but is very difficult. At the time of my vaccination I was very sick with flu like symptoms and a fever. I have 3 autoimmune diseases. Wish I had never had that second vaccination.
Three years ago I got one shot and next day woke up with sciatica. Took months to get rid of it. Never took second shot. I’ve already as a young person had shingles twice. I would take the shingles as opposed to the sciatica. Also started having night sweats and have autoimmune diseases.
