Y-90 liver cancer treatment: What's your experience?
I recently was treated with y-90 on a tumor in my liver. I am interested in knowing of others that have had experiences good, or bad, and of long term results. I have had prior resection of the liver to remove a tumor but a new tumor surfaced in a different section. I am hoping the y-90 will prove to be a more permanent solution. Thanks

My spouse had Y90 in September and late sept beginning October he had severe abdominal pains doubled over .so they did a celiac plexus block as they said that this will help. It did stop pain. Altho he had started loosing weight earlier almost 10 kilos which he cannot afford to loose. Accompanied by nausea and diarrhoea so family doctor ordererd stool sample to check. One test came back negative waiting in other test. Tuesday we go for right lobe Y90 and now on Lonsurf

My spouse is having his second y90 on Tuesday October 26 and oncologist has not ordered the aft tumor blood work, why? Am curious all we have done is cea, cbc, camp and inr for the procedure. What other labs should be done? Please write
My husband had Y90 in September and what followed was pain in abdomen, weight loss, no appetite, so we went in for a celiac plexus block. He was off chemo since June 26, and the oncologist and nurse oractioner did not address his stomach pain which started in July, take Pepcid, gasX etc. Finally family doctor said stool sample diagnosis hpylori. Antibiotics and admitted for 5 days…that issue resolved. Now on Tuesday Y90 on right lobe. Oncologist put him on Lonsurf for five days on off two, five on off till October 29. Anyone had experience with lonsurf and Y90. Somehow I do not like the idea of nurse practioners dealing with patients.
What are your thoughts. Need some good sound advice. I am on top of everything they say and do, and I constantly keep them informed…which they do not appreciate.
I just looked back and my Interventional Radiologist ordered hepatic function panel, CBC, INR, and basic metabolic panel. Good luck on the Y90 shoot. My tumors (had 2 shot) are dying after the second shoot.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks for the encouragement our IR doctor is the finest and most caring at Hopkins we have seen and his department is top notch and well run. My concern is that he has lost a lot of weight, and am giving him whatever he wants to eat with protein and calories.
Tuesday is the second right lobe. How long before you saw results in your Y90 I am top of his labs, cea, cbc,, cmp, Inr , and will ask oncology about AFB lab to be done and if shows results.
I just read about a study done at Hunter college about the impact of olive oil high quality in cancer . Does anyone have any thoughts about this. Of course we use it in food preparation natural food
If you have a top doc at Hopkins you’re probably in great hands. I have problems with weight, i just don’t like to eat. I supplement with Ensure Plus that helps a lot. Each bottle has 350 calories and other stuff that’s healthy, i drink a couple a day.
In my case they shoot then do a CT in a month. If that looks good it moves to every three months. I’m up again for CT on the 24th of November but just had labs and my IFP Tumor Markers were in the normal range.
What kind of liver cancer does he have? I had three cancerous carcinomas. Does he have them or cancer in his liver?
Have not heard about olive oil but its good for everything. I have read studies about coffee, supposed to be really good for liver cancer. I also drink and ounce and a half of lemon juice mixed with a little hot water and honey before i eat of drink anything else. It’s a powerful liver cleanser.
Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes. Diane
Just a little note to let know a prayer 🙏 just went up for you guys tonight that everything goes swimmingly well
tomorrow.
He has colon cancer with liver metastasis removed right crack mass jan2019 and started chemo feb 2019 last chemo June 26 then oncologist stopped and later in sept recommended y90 I believe oncologist is at fault. Our IR doctor and team at Hopkins are the best. Did left lobe and today right lobe
Oncologist yesterday was basically saying to us just enjoy your life the remaining time
I was pissed off at her approach
Her ratings may not be good
