Does anyone have these problems? How do you handle it?

@d13

Is Hydroxytryptophan a prescription drug? Or is an over the counter?

I have been on Lexapro for 8 years and last year started feeling extreme fatigue and worsening depression. Dr. Just upped Lexapro from 20 to 30 and added a low dose of Welbutrin in morning and it has definitely started to help.

Don't be embarrassed, I was seeing a psychiatrist for anxiety and mild depression, he prescribed six different medications one after the other and they all made me feel worse so I decided to get a second opinion with a different Dr. and She recomended Lorazepam 5mg. I'm still not out of the woods yet, I ask my pcp about the 5HTP supplement, and he said that some of his patients are taking it and they really are happy taking those supplements rather then drugs, so I'm going to try them here pretty soon, will keep you posted.

I have found no antidepressants help with my severe anxiety. I have tried six of them in all three classes. My psychiatrist prescribed Valium, but is going to try Lyrica or another anticonvulsant med to quiet my brain. Just a suggestion for anyone who cannot take the antidepressants and their side effects.

People don't realize how paralyzed we can get. I go and sit on my patio every day and sometimes for 15 hours at a time, just unable to move. Things don't get done that need to be taken care of but I just freeze. Afraid to move. I am not a slacker either but the fear of leaving my "safe space" is greater than trying to function.

Could be. I was finally diagnosed with it on top of multiple other conditions relating to anxiety and depression.

All my life! And I will be 76 soon. Yes, the ridicule and people thinking I was just trying to get attention: I would enter a social gathering, whether or not I knew the people, and suddenly feel as if I was going to get sick, then I would get tunnel vision, then pass out! I would come to on the floor and be mortified! Only until Marie Osmond passed out on stage live with “Dancing with the Stars” did I realize I had been so tense that I guess I didn’t breathe. I have found no medication to alleviate this…and take 60 mg Prozac daily. I’m a firm believer that you I must also do the “work”, that is, help myself because no antidepressants have really worked (without side effects).
