Sound Therapy, Mental Illness and Depression

Posted by organizingkaos @organizingkaos, Oct 19, 2021

I have been fascinated by sound and it's possible health benefits for a long time now. Is Sound Therapy a possible treatment for Depression and/or Mental Illness? Any ideas, theories, suggestions or opinions are welcome and encouraged. Together we can heal the Planet and it all starts here. Thank you all.

Hello @organizingkaos

You ask an interesting question about sound therapy and mental health. I googled the term, "sound therapy for anxiety" and saw ads for lots of products but not too much in the way of legitimate studies. I went on "Google Scholar" and found some studies about the use of sound therapy for anxiety. Here are some of the links,

Connect does have a discussion about the value of music on the mind and body. You will meet many members who firmly believe in the value of music for their mental health. Here is a link to that discussion, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/music-helps-me/.

It seems like you have a special interest in this topic. Organizingkaos, have you personally experienced some help with sound/music therapy?
