My Grandma had it 2 of her sons had it and 2 children from each son have it... Does anyone one else have Parkinson's going through their family like ours?

@psvantx,

That is so great that you will be attending PT for gait and balance. It's amazing how much improvement you can experience with a good physical therapist.

When will the PT begin?

I meet the physical therapist next Thursday and start soon after. I appreciate your encouragement as I’m feeling overwhelmed at present.

I understand the "overwhelmed" part quite well, @psvantx. We all feel that way when handed a new diagnosis. The PT will be wonderful. It will give you so much confidence to step out in the world again.

Fighting PD is a lot of progressive steps and PT is a good one to start with. You will feel empowered. I plan on PT once a year or more, if I find begin falling. Have you fallen recently?

If you begin to experience speech or swallowing problems ask for a referral to a speech therapist. They are great for swallowing or speech problems. I go once a year for that as well. It keeps me busy, I'm glad that I'm now retired.

Here is a Youtube video you might enjoy participating in. It is a seated exercise class for PD.
