Yesssss! Austin, I’m relieved right along with you that the swelling was nothing to worry about!! 😊
You had other questions for your doctor about your heart and blood pressure. Everything ok there?

@austin202001 Oh I can sure appreciate your underlying anxiety if there is a family history of lymphoma and blood cancers. I lost my brother to Hodgkin’s Lymphoma many years ago. I was 15 at the time and it left such an impact on me. Any time I had a swollen lymph node I was convinced I had it too. Years later I found out he and his fellow army troupe were sprayed with Agent Orange while out on maneuvers as a test for physical reactions to the defoliant. He’d been in a base hospital 2 weeks and then honorably discharged from the army. This was back in 1961. 4 years later he passed away. The news that this was chemically induced didn’t bring my brother back to me but it did liberate me from the thought that I’d get the same terrible disease. So I totally understand how this latent fear can affect the psyche.

Congratulations with quitting smoking! That’s a huge step in taking charge of your health. I also know it’s not an easy feat to quit as I watched family members around me struggling with that challenge many times. So you can really be proud of your achievement!

I really hope you’re able to get to the bottom of the medical symptoms. Sometimes just being able to have a diagnosis takes a huge weight off the mind. When you mentioned heart issues do they interfere with exercise? Are you able to get out for walks or biking on a regular basis?

If you don’t mind, I’d really like to know how your doctor’s appointment turns out and see how you’re doing. So don’t be surprised if I pop in from time to time… Lori.

Lori,
I have a friend that was just diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Can you recommend a support group? She is in her late 30's.

Hi Dave, I’d love to help your friend find just the right group. We have quite a few members who have some form of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, it is a condition that has many varieties…the old “Heinz 57”.

Here are most of them:
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
Anaplastic large-cell lymphoma
Burkitt lymphoma
Lymphoblastic lymphoma
Mantle cell lymphoma
Peripheral T-cell lymphoma

Follicular lymphoma
Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma
Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma
Marginal zone B-cell lymphoma
MALT lymphoma
Small-cell lymphocytic lymphoma

Would you happen to know her diagnosis? That way I can steer you to the best group for your friend.

She just found out today. I don’t know the specifics. She is of course numb to say the least. Kids, marriage, career… lots to deal with.I’ll let you know.
I am a cancer survivor and know these groups are a huge help.
