Best travel CPAP machine

I had a Dreamstation Go along with the regular Dreamstation CPAP machine before the recall and I really liked it. I replaced the Dreamstation Go travel CPAP with a ResMed AirMini and I like it much better. The only negative about it if you can call it that is the CPAP hose is not standard and there are only specific masks designed to work with it...but there is a workaround. They make a CPAP hose adapter that fits the machine so you can use whatever mask you have along with a standard CPAP hose. I do like the user program/app that comes with the Dreamstation much better than the ResMed MyAir but that's just a personal preference thing.

@thankful @jimhd @johnbishop and others talk about their CPAP travel preferences. Mind you, back in 2018 Phillips hadn't yet recalled their Dreamstation Go CPAP. Jim and Jim, what machines are you using these days?

John, I see that you replaced the Dreamstation Go travel CPAP with a ResMed AirMini. What do you like better about the ResMed AirMini?

Thanks for the tag Colleen. I actually like my new ResMed AirMini better than the Dreamstation Go. It's smaller and lighter so it packs away nice. It's also pretty quiet. I'm still trying to find a better mask but that may take awhile.

I am looking at the Z2 and the ResMed Air Mini. As John mentions, I have read complaints about problems with the Adair Mini face masks. I am also a little confused if the Air Mini does run on batteries if you need it to.

@galway22, The ResMed AirMini has an AC cord with a power adapter that plugs into the wall.

Has anyone have experience with the Z2 Auto Travel cpap by Human Design Medical?

What can you say as regards the noise level or the motor humm? Are you using it with the waterless humidification system? What is the longest period (number of days) you have used it? Are you using the battery, if yes is it good for more than one night?

I've been using the ResMed AirMini pretty much continous since it's my only working CPAP and I'm waiting for a replacement for both the Dreamstation and the Dreamstation Go. I will probably stay with the AirMini since it's smaller and I really like it. I'm sure there probably is some noise level but honestly I don't hear it. I put the mask on and push the button to start it and I don't hear it start but feel the air that starts moving into the mask and that's how I can tell it's on. I don't use any humidification system. I stopped using it when I had the Dreamstation Go as it seemed to make it harder for me to breathe. I have to say that my bedroom is in the lower level of a walkout basement type house and I have a whole home dehumidifier that keeps the humidity around 50% even in the Winter.

You can buy the battery packs that let you use them without an A/C cord but I don't go camping anymore so it's a moot point for me. I suppose it would be worth it if the rolling brown outs start 🙂 I think most of the portable batteries supply 1 to 2 nights of CPAP usage before you have to charge the battery.

Has anyone had experience with the Transcend Micro Travel CPAP machine? I'm considering buying one, since we travel a great deal. Any pros and cons? Thanks.

Welcome @probar927, The Transcend Micro Travel CPAP looks like it would be a great option for travel. My first travel CPAP was a Dreamstation Go and I also had a Dreamstation Auto CPAP for regular use. When they were recalled I had to make a choice and went with a different travel CPAP, the ResMed AirMini which I really like. I had to purchase a CPAP hose adapter so that I could use a standard CPAP hose with my current setup. It's my everyday CPAP and it travels well since it's very small. I might have opted for the Transcend if it would have been available when I purchased my ResMed AirMini.

What I like about the Transcend Travel CPAP is besides being small, it works with any standard CPAP hose and mask. It also has a 30 minute drying cycle to remove excess moisture from the tubing and mask in the morning if needed which is kind of a perk. While we wait for members who might have experience to share with you, I thought you might find this review with pros and cons helpful if you haven't already seen it.
