New Study Reveals DANGER for immunocompromised.
New England Jorurnal of Medicine: to paraphrase, 55% of those hospitalized nationwide with breakthrough Covid infections are immunocompromised. Delta Variant. I am taking super precautions!! Please be excruciatingly careful about your safety out there folks.

People have proven to be a disappointment. 🙄
On the brighter side, now that I have vented that, I don’t feel angry about it anymore, just very determined to protect my tiny family.
@tjdog, you ask a good question. "What about people who are immunosuppressed? Can the vaccine itself prevent serious complications, or do you need to have developed the antibodies?"
You'll notice that I moved your question to this existing discussion in the Transplants group where fellow members @athenalee @lizzy102 @gingerw @loribmt @rosemarya @mollyv @auntieoakley and others are also talking about this.

Mayo Clinic expert discusses breakthrough COVID-19 cases https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-expert-discusses-breakthrough-covid-19-cases/
August 13, 2021 from Mayo Clinic
"COVID-19 vaccines remain the best defense against COVID-19. However, no vaccines are 100% effective at preventing illness in vaccinated people, and a small percentage of breakthrough cases are expected, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Breakthrough COVID-19 cases are receiving a lot of attention, but they are not what's driving the current surge."
TJ, I hope you develop some antibodies with the 3rd dose. Until then, we have to hope fellow citizens will continue to get vaccinated. As always, keep up with practising all the recommended precautions of masking, distancing and hand washing.
@athenalee You have obviously researched this well. I was thinking it might be similar to Airborne and another OTC product that people use when flying to improve their immunity. Apparently SinuOrega is a very different product than those.
@loribmt It's really terrible that our country and families have become so divided on this issue. Fortunately all of our families have gotten vaccinated, and all of our close friends but I will no longer use the nail tech that I used to go to because she will not get vaccinated, nor will I use the house cleaner who I had every other week. Both of them were very good so I do miss them.
We will not socialize with non-vaccinated people, nor will eat inside of a restaurant, and even after having my third shot I am quite sure we will continue that. Frankly, we are old so at greater risk. People at any age can get a serious case and have long lingering effects but at my age and my husband's age, it could be a real problem.

Hello I noticed that your husband has had stem cell treatment. I have been dx with MCD. If my current condition doesn’t respond appropriately to Tacrolimus I am considering researching Stem Cell options. What is his dx and how successful was the stem cell treatment? Thank you for sharing information
I don’t k ow if his was directed at @athenalee or myself but my husband has multiple myeloma.
From codered032 Sorry I am still learning to navigate the site. I just noticed that your husband had two stem cell treatments. I assumed they were kidney issues, but it appears that this was for another condition. I am exploring regenerative treatment for my kidney disease.
Hello @codered032 Welcome to Connect. Don’t worry, we’ve all made user “mistakes,” but you’ll get the hang of it. There’s handy tip info, including - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/newsfeed-post/how-to-comment-reply-like-bookmark-and-more/
I agree. But I know you’ll continue to inspire with your bubbly cheerfulness!
LOL Thank you. I wasn’t as disillusioned as I sounded. People often exceed my lowest expectations. Does that make them overachievers? 😂
I admit I’m painfully perky. When my daughter was a sullen teenager, she’d come downstairs in the morning and tell me to at least set my Perky Meter gun down to stun, not to vaporize.
