Third vaccine to boost antibodies against COVID infection?
Has anyone heard of or has information about transplanted folks receiving a third or another set of vaccines? I’m 20+ years out on my renal transplant and am thinking this might be a good thing to try.

@estrada53 Not expressly and may get slapped on the wrist on a Wednesday visit this week. All previous conversations on third doses ended with "wait till FDA/CDC approval". So...
Best always,

I'm getting my 3rd Pfizer tomorrow morning.
I just now scrolled thru my email vaccination reminder, and it said to – "Drink 16 oz water 1 hour before getting the shot to reduce side effects"
I don't remember that message with my first 2 doses, but I will definitely give it a try. I thought maybe someone here might be interested, too.
I got my 3rd Moderna shot on Saturday.
How are you feeling today?
Good morning, I received my 3rd dose of Pfizer yesterday under the advisement of my Dr’s at UCSF. I’m 1 1/2 years from liver transplant and feel great! I’ve been back to work as a flight attendant for over a year now, so I was really excited for the booster.
I drank quite a bit of water yesterday, just a sore arm today!
Stay healthy and safe everyone!
@estrada53. This morning I received acknowledgement and thanks from the my beloved Mayo heart coordinators regarding my updated vaccination status. No admonishment, chiding, reproof, scolding, reprimand, reproach or other forms of criticism. We will see what Dr. H says on Wednesday.
Best always,
s!
I got my shot today. Pharmacist said the 16 oz water is a general suggestion for any vaccination. According to her, it reduces side effects. I had never heard that before. Might be some truth in it, I don't even have a sore arm (yet?).
Also, my insurance company had not yet updated their system for the 3rd dose, so I didn't get approved at first. The pharmacist ran it as a repeated 2nd dose. She said some insurances updated on Saturday, and others like mine, are still working on it.
I sent the information to Mayo via my patient portal. It is easy to photograph the updated Record card and attach it to message to transplant nurse.
Rosemary- Are you referring to medicare?
I have a Medicare supplement.
I do too. I'm thinking of getting the third shot, but I want to ask my Podiatrist first because I'm only 4 days out from my surgery. I have a feeling that I'll be told to wait. My thinking on this is to have it now, while I'm already not doing much but keeping my leg up and iced, why not have the shot. Killing two thingies...
