Antibody tests and vaccinations in transplants
Following Johns Hopkins study on transplants vaccinations discussions on here. I got Moderna shots in Jan/Feb. 2021. After all the studies and discussions, got the antibody test on 7/11/21. It came back "Reactive" with H in the H/L or High/Low patient website results. My doctor said I had either had some contact with coronavirus* or the vaccinations were working. All of this is very confusing. There is no telling what level of protection it affords. Best advice comes from MD Andersen for cancer patients and antibody tests which follows: https://www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/what-do-negative-positive-antibody-test-results-mean-after-a-covid-19-vaccine.h00-159459267.html#.YO3UTFkdgjQ.mailto
*My wife and I cruised Pacific islands Aus/NZ in Nov. 2019. Caught what they thought was adenovirus on ship. Or so they called it. We both were deathly ill. Hers went to her lungs and lasted for months. No one in the States knew anything about Covid in early 2020 so I wonder if we didn't have Covid.

That’s a really great question!! How do we prove we’re immune compromised??!!!
Taking the prescription bottle of Tacro (or any other immunosuppressive) with your name on it would be a really good option. It’s what’s compromising your immune system.
I have a ‘birth certificate’ from my bone marrow transplant! LOL
I’m eager to hear some other options for proof. Do we even need it?
I need to get the Pfizer vaccine because my 1st and 2nd shots were Pfizer. My local CVS pharmacy did not have information yesterday. But today I called again and the vaccination recording said that immunocompromised patients could walk in or schedule a 3rd dose. I could not get connected to a real person with my own question about proof of immunosuppression. So I tried the web site to schedule. I filled our the online application and the first page asked if I was in the immunocompromised category that was approved by CDC. A click on YES was all I needed. A series of questions followed about my last dose, my allergies, etc.
I am scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday.
If you have a Mayo portal access it's listed in your conditions may work also
Well. I have to say Lori that having a birth certificate for your new bone marrow is really cool. But don’t you wear a medical bracelet? It’s recommended for solid organ transplant recipients. So, I wear mine whenever I go out.
Lol. Yes, indeedy, I have my transplant jewelry. 😅 Used to be that Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
I do not use Mayo, but i do have records at the VA. No problem if i go to the VA, but that is a 1.5 hour trip each way from where i live. Safeway is 10 minutes away.
I will discuss with my local Safeway. I also need Pfizer.
My husband and I joked Ill just pull up my shirt and flash my scar!!
😂😂
Kind of like a security blanket. You never know when something might happen, so I figure it’s always good to be prepared.
