Hi! I got diagnosed with AIHA when I was 13 and i’m currently 18. I haven’t been on any medication for about 2 years after I got a treatment that worked really well. I recently got my 2nd vaccine shot about a week or 2 ago. I haven’t really thought much into how I was feeling from the shot because I just figured I would feel fine but for the first time in years i’m experiencing my symptoms again. I’m hoping it’s just a mini flare up i’ve been feeling like this for a little under a week but just now started thinking it was related to my AIHA since I haven’t thought about it in so long. I’m going to call and make an appointment to check tomorrow.

If you are comfortable, can you share with me the treatment that worked well for you and allowed you to stop medication. My daughter had the Pfizer vaccine, and it did not seem to adversely affect her AIHA.

I am currently on prednisone. I have been diagnosed with aiha for many years I am currently in a flare-up. My question is I am very nervous about taking the covid vaccine because I do not want the vaccine to cause my current flareup to get worse. Also, it seems that there are people posting that they have received vaccines but now regret doing so. There have been no clinical studies. I guess my main concern is that I have a current flare-up and do not want any severe complications. If the covid infection can cause AIHA, shouldn't getting the vaccine, make it worse if you already have it? Thoughts anyone?

I’m really sorry that you are experiencing a flare right now. Does the prednisone usually help? I have a different autoimmune disease that affects my brain. When i got my covid vaccine, i was still not in remission, but nothing got worse. The doctors were really encouraging me to get vaccinated.so far I’ve been fine
What are your doctors saying about the vaccines? Have you discussed this with them?

I was diagnosed with AIHA back in 2006 and was on prednisone for two and a half years after that. I had a splenectomy and that helped me to stop the treatment with prednisone. Being on prednisone was a nightmare for its side effects. I consulted with my family doctor if I should get the Covid19 vaccine, and after reviewing my clinical history, he agreed with me that I should wait until a vaccine without this MRNA technology comes. He's very concerned that if I get any of the MRNA vaccines, I have big chances of developing AIHA and need treatment with prednisone again. He advised me to wait until more research related to AIHA is conducted and a different vaccine comes.
Now, I've being pressured by my employer to get this vaccine at risk of losing my job. The tribunal in charge of medical exemptions for the Covid19 vaccine won't accept my doctor's note.
Has anyone been in this situation?

I was recently diagnosed with anemia and we have not been able to determine why I am anemic and what is the underlying cause. It took me a few to figure out what the one major change was in the last couple of months, which was the vaccine. I have had 2 iron transfusions and neither has worked. I am chronically exhausted, my hair is falling out, my eyes are constantly glazed over and red. I have brain fog and when I can fall asleep, I sleep hours and hours on end.
I was researching what could be a cause of this and came across the article on AIHA Hemolytic Autoimmune Anemia and Covid-19 Vaccine reactions. I have struggled with my doctors to find a reason and I honestly think this could be the cause. What do I need to do to determine this? I have never felt this way before and this is every day now that I feel like the walking dead. Any help would be appreciated!!!

I had rituximab transfusions!!
Also, the vaccine only affected me for about a week and i was perfectly back to normal after :)!
