Plan B and Depo, Odd Question
The question I want to ask is pretty odd, and something I haven't been able to get a straight answer for when trying to do some research on it. Anyway, I just got my first depo shot as birth control a few weeks ago. My doctor said to use a backup method of birth control for 2 weeks after the shot, until the shot became effective. At exactly the 2 week mark, while having protected sex, we had a condom break. I, being pretty paranoid about birth control, I admit it, panicked. I worried that the shot wouldn't be effective until AFTER that 2 week mark. In this panic, I took a plan b pill. My question lies here-if my depo shot WAS in fact effective at that point, could the plan b pill possibly have an adverse affect on the depo? Could taking that plan b pill possibly make my depo not work anymore? I basically am wondering if I am still protected now, more than 2 weeks after the first shot. I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but I just needed to ask as it's worrying me.

I'm not a doctor or a pharmacist, but wanted to send along some information that I found asap because I can hear the panic in your worry. According to PlannedParenthood.org "If you get the birth control shot within the first seven days after the start of your period, you are protected from pregnancy immediately. If you get the shot within five days after miscarriage or an abortion, or within three weeks after giving birth, you are protected from pregnancy immediately. Otherwise, you need to use some form of backup birth control for the first week after getting the shot." https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control/birth-control-shot-depo-provera
They also provide info on the Plan B pill https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control/morning-after-pill-emergency-contraception
In regards to your question about the Plan B pill reversing the effectiveness of the birth control shot (Depo), I recommend talking to your doctor or a pharmacist. If can also talk with a health educator on Planned Parenthood. See this page to access the chat room https://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/contact-us
Not a silly question. I hope you'll let us know what you find out.
Help I have a shortage of blood so the doctor put me on a 3 months injection so that I won't loose anymore blood then me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex and used the morning after pill afterwards to be extra safe and I was in over my head because I didnt think that time what do I do
Hi, I have a question, if you know the answer or have an idea please answer, I need an answer!😕…… so my postpartum bleeding stopped on a Monday and I had unprotected sex on a Wednesday night and took a plan b pill the following day and than four days after I went in to get my first depo shot and they asked me if I had sex before since I was also six weeks postpartum but said no because my mom was there and was embarrassed to answer that question. Do y’all think I will be fine or could possibly get pregnant??
