Stage 3 Kidney Disease and Diet: What can I eat?
It seems there is very little you can eat that is healthy for the Kidneys. The web site Davida has plenty of food on it but contradicts what other sources say. Anyone know anything for breakfast, lunch and dinner that does not have any sugar or flour bodies the obvious boring or bland foods good for Kidneys and I’m allergic to sugar of any kind of sweetener and flour. Thank you.

Why water with lemon
Never seen one yet.
I've been in Stage V for 9 years but have managed to avoid dialysis so far and no transplant either. One thing I've found helpful is to be very scrupulous about looking up nutrition data over and over again until you start to get a feel for what's what. Then my secret weapon is portion control. When you know something is bad for you but you love that food, occasionally have a bite or two but stop after that. When I out for dinner and my wife orders a hamburger, I order a salad or just a couple vegetable side dishes. But, I allow myself to take a bite of her hamburger, and then stop. When she has french fries take 3 or 4 of the and then stop. Eat those bites slowly and really pay attention to savor the taste, but stop, no matter how much you want to keep eating. Works when you eat with someone else who wants to help because you can't really eat too much of their hamburger anyway! I'm not a big fan of Davita. You can do better figuring it out for yourself.
@m1miller Congrats on being so diligent. I am stage 4 myself, and follow your guidelines as you laid out. The one thing I really miss, and would not be able to "just have a sip", is fresh orange juice! I get a slice of banana if my husband has cereal and banana.
Ginger
Good news from doc about leison on ct scan. It wasn’t on the other prior so not to worry.
Instead of sugar have you heard of agave nectar. It’s natural sweetener at health food store.
I am new at this, should I stop taking vitamin c
Talk about it with your nephrologist.
Thanks
Warm water with lemon slice helps kidneys, cranberry juice if your permitted. Health food store has cranberry in capsules. Ask your doc. Just a suggestion.
